how on earth did i get left out of this, and if the pt's already setup why even post it? to make the rest of us jealous.. damn you TTK people.

I agree with Rune.. you guys are most likely fucked... alot of blm but if you don't kill not long after hath's invincible wears you will all be toast. Fenrir isn't a joke and shouldn't be half-assed. Better to take 2 seperate pts to make sure you win. NIN can tank fenrir well and PLD usually get eaten, no benediction to counter astral flow might get you screwed also. MNK/NIN will get eaten most likely if he is going to try to tank (sorry Raex). Utsusemi sub usually doesn't cut it and fenrir hits so damn hard he destroys PLDs .. so MNK will almost get oneshotted by Eclipse Bite if Fenrir does any dispelga or AOE to wipe shadows beforehand.

I have tried fenrir many times and with no pt setups that included smn (all SMN pts are best for fenrir), and when I finally won it was PLD NIN BLM RDM BRD WHM. We won because of when astral flow went off Namahage timed benediction perfectly (most of us didn't see our HP go down only saw the damage in log) and Littlejohn did invicible right afterward to keep Nama alive and took hate off of Diablomo who was tanking until that point. After that Mrukk and Alderan did their 2hrs to finish Fenrir off. This is how I remember the fight. All other attempts before this (mostly with PLD tank getting killed very fast) failed miserably except for first time where we almost killed him.

Light SC with magic burst usually hurts Fenrir decently and you can sleep to 300tp before entering BC. BRD isn't as useful in this fight as you might think because Fenrir alot of the time spams dispelga and makes the BRD recast constantly (has a habit of dispelga right before his astral flow which removes SV dark carol). I have never wiped solely due to Astral Flow from Fenrir, either dark carol helped or the tank was lunch before he even did astral. But it is only xp you will be wasting and I recommend doing 2 pts and having 2 seperate WHMs (one in BC one out) to raise your asses if either pt wipes.

Fenrir really isn't that hard. Raex can probably tank it. Hathfuri can SP as WHM. BLM can nuke. Just have to go all out and fast.

When i finally got fenrir, we had nin (decimus) nin (leaks) pld (vaelen) whm (me) blm (poptart) rdm (i think it was durga)

First two times trying to perfect our strategy took some work. We tried many things, but our final time we made it through with no deaths (even poptart lived, which is a miricle in itself i think lol). Decimus and Leaks did awesome bouncing hate to allow the other to recast shadows. when 2hr came i benidiction, and vaelen incinvincible. During that time chainspell and manafont was used. That didn't kill him he was still left alive for a bit. But our tanks even managed to get the hate back off of vaelen and he lived. Then we just finished it off.

I commend you that you are trying to do this without taking 4 smn to own the fight for you. Not saying its wrong, but it could never give that feeling we got after we pulled it off. It was exciting, and far more rewarding. Good luck guys, and if when you go to do it, drop me a /tell in game. I will gladly sit out the bcnm with raise3 ready incase fenrir decides to be extra nasty. just remember one thing. Fenrir's elemental property being dark, i doubt sleep with every stick. so don't have your blms use thier manafont until after his two hour and you know you can kill him, that way you can keep trying until you get it. There is no shame in it taking a few times. Trust me when i say that reading other peoples adventures in it, will never really prepare you for how nasty he can be. Yeah the fight's pretty easy with 2 NINs - I've done it like this twice.
AoE Dispel will kill -all- effects (which is a major pain) so just have whichever NIN isn't tanking ready Ni and Voke so the other NIN doesn't take more than one hit (two at worst) since Fenrir won't use 2 pacts in a row. Also, don't try to kite him.. it just causes problems and makes it harder.

I'm not sure how well you guys will hold up but good luck.

Hey thanks for the advice guys. Anyway, this is a closed run, and was only posted here as a reminder because raex asked me to. Concerning the fight, our plan is to hold off on nukes until 50 percent life ish, or whenver he 2 hours, then to take him out with massive manafont. I think we'll be fine, since raex can take well, and if he gets in trouble because of dispelga, hath can voke.

oh forgot to add, concerning the 2 pt thing, if there are 6 others that are ready to fight fenrir, then we'll go in with 2 pts. Just either post here, send me a tell or pm me in game.

It's hard to get him to 50% with just one tank. Like they said, if Raex eats a Eclipse Bite, it's over with. Take it nice and slow though.. if one person goes down just exit out so you only have one or two deaths rather than a full wipe or 4 or more people dieing.

Everyone makes fenrir out to be impossible, he's difficult, but nowhere near impossible. When I finally got him, we had a galka Mnk/nin tank him, rng/nin, whm, rdm, rdm, and me on brd. Mnk/nin ate eclipse bite several times, and other dmg BP and not die. I've yet to have someone die from white hp from fenrir's 2hr, btw I don't have dark carol either.

Mnk/nin can "tank" fenrir, I would say requirements are rdm and brd for slow and carnage elegy, and dual mambos. Slow and carnage elegy landing makes or breaks the fenrir fight imo.

yeah with RDM and BRD there shouldn't be much of a problem. I have seen NINs eat it with 1700 Eclipse Bites before though, but MNKs are a lot beefier than that and could probably survive, plus their insane VIT (damn you MNKs for having more VIT than us PLDs)
