personally i'm really not in favor of most of the stuff that was discussed in that interview.

Items like relic weapons and body abjurations are intended to be hard to get, and monsters like the cop dragons and sea mobs are supposed to be hard to kill. Its what keeps this game interesting. Were SE to make kings poppable from a ??? or other mobs easier i'd probably quit lol

I think its also in part due to the fact that lots of people have been on this game for a long time and done a number of things "the hard way." I think it would kind of cheat the players out of the satisfaction of earning an item or a kill were SE to implement the things they were talking about in that interview.

There's a difference between difficulty level and luck, though. It doesn't take awesome FFXI skills to claim one of the three kings when competing with three other linkshells. It takes luck. I think making them poppable and maybe increasing the difficulty of the fights would be a better idea.

If that'd make the Relic Maul easier to upgrade I'd cream myself. I could actually take it out of storage and spend some time on it. Honestly I kind of like the idea of unobtainable equipment, but if I could do something with my relic maul I'd be very pleased.

I agree with Anthon. I think one of the coolest things about FFXI is the fact there's STILL mobs that no one has killed...in the past it's been Kirin, Dynamis Lord, Vrtra, and now the Jailer of Love and Absolute Virtue. I don't want things easier, just less luck-based. Treasures seems like an attempt to cater to lighter or casual gamers coming in on the 360 and keep them interested until they GET to the currently existing end-game content...I myself almost quit out of boredom, at Levels 24 and 35, but now I'm having a ball with ZMs, CoP, and some of the higher end content I'm just now beginning to experience. BLU FTW!

I am waiting to hear how good Blue Mage is then if I am going to buy that expansion since it has very little end game focus supposedly. Really Blue Mage better be the best shit ever or SE can go choke on a horse cock. Adding no end game to next expansion and one new job = no thanks. Going to have a shitload of asshats seeking as BLU in the dunes and you are going to see 6 person all BLU pts and all sorts of lame shit. I bet it is going to end up being the new BST since the new expansion is supposed to be so solo oriented. Really I have seen the game get easier and easier to xp in since I have hit 75. Well at least my first job was BRD when xp was supposed to be harder lmao.

In the interview Sundi is saying that Aht Urgan will bring satisfaction to people who want to solo. This could also be a hinting that BLU will be a solo job like BST. Anything could be possibly, no one really knows anything yet about the job.
But that we'll be seeing BLUs all over the place is an inevitable fact.

I believe SE loves luck over challanging one's skill, since luck forces people to continually go back and try again over a length period: IE more dollars for them. Heehee. Time sinks is what keeps FFxi going, but many players have expressed desire for more imediate satisfaction style material. Like WoW where you don't even have to exit a city to gain xp. More focus on the casual player than nerds like me willing to sit on the server for 11 hours at a time desparately trying to complete one mundane task.

Whether you play 1 hour or 10 hours, SE gets the same money from you regardless. I think this new expansion is trying to appeal to the casual crowd and keep that business, instead of having people constantly quit because they just dont have the excessive time that's needed to play this game.
I think ToA may be extremely influenced by the addition of Xbox and is probably made in consideration to those new costumers. I have a sneaking suspiscion that BLU is going to be a solo class. ^^; Probably only way you could implement a new job (and only 1 new job) without flooding the seeking party range and unbalancing the game.
Probably first 5 months or so any given /sea all invite will be 20-30 BLU's and a lonely dragoon.
