When I was leveling up, my equipment was rubbish. I didn't have a ton of time to play, and when it was, I was on a tight schedule with my perm. I just used mythril armor and then my AF. But if back then I knew what I knew now, I probably just would have done what you're doing, wait til royal knight's stuff. The only decent AF pieces are the helm and body, but even the body gets outclassed by haubergeon in like a level after you get it.

One of the biggest thing you want to do in ballista when you do get guillotine is have someone use like banishga or take a couple swings at your target before using guillotine. It must piss people off to no end to try to sidewinder/guillotine me or a ninja and have their tp wasted on clearing blink.

pld pretty much owns any class 1 vs. 1 in 60 cap. If you have some mad skills and decent luck you might be able to take one out. But in an even match with full health, no buffs, and no TP. The pld will probably win

Plds just have extremely high defense and actually hit decently hard. Considering that vorpal blade does 300-600 damage against you, and the pld probably has higher defense/hp, you're in for a tough fight.

But just like rein said, if you play all your tools right, you might win. Gotta remember that a pld with full MP will rape you always so aspir would probably be the way to win

Worst case, just sleep them. ;p Most people forget Drks get sleep, bind, etc. Just another reason to keep enfeebling magic capped. lol I guess it's a big difference in uncapped and 60 cap, because plds are nothing in uncap. Only pld that can last longer than a few seconds is a pld/rdm with phanlax on.

Anyway, I havnt done ballista yet, got my Liscence the first day the quest was up and have watched plenty of matches, saw a lvl 60 cap in Meriphataud the other day, those are pretty cool, not nearly as good as 75 though.

Plasma, you must didn't read my earlier post.............

I said i have all those debuffs at my desposial, including SLEEP, so i think it'll be much tougher for a Pld to defeat me than you say it would be. Consider something:

Match starts, i immediately Abs everything he has, poison, bio, (stun in between to keep him subdued), aspir (so he can't cure himself at much, if at all during our melee battle), Then lastly sleep him so i can get in place for my SATA on him to take about 1/2 of his life instantly..........

So considering all that, and that Plds or only really effective if i don't do any of that, and decide to be brave and stupid and just all out melee with him, i'd say the fight would go in my favor.

I play pretty smart, so i doubt a Pld with no debuffing magic (execpt Flash) could really own me if im doing most of my damage from a far distance to set up for a devestating melee assualt on him. I just don't see it.

Dont even bother /thf in ballista unless you plan on running away, without satahide your never gonna hit sa anyways, and youll be more powerful /war. /thf is really just for people who play the running game, which shouldnt be melee at all anyways.

Vorath, you must've not read the post either.......

Out of all the things i said i was gonna do, my whole battle plan of debuffs and meleeing, is that all you see is my sub???

Please read it again, i don't think it would matter which sub i have if i'm gonna stick to that battle plan. So don't even consider the subs, comment on my strategy and tell me if you think i have the advantage or not......

Vol, I've used thf sub plenty of times in uncap, and when you use sa/ta with invis pots, it's very very nice. Having an additional flee/sprint is nice when you have petras and want to score quickly and get back to the action. It's not as potent as /war, /sam, or /nin but it has its merits. Plus I'm too damn lazy to level samurai for Ballista.

Yeah, i was to lazy to lvl thief at one time, but i found out how effective it'll make Drk (especially an elvaan Drk.) lol.

But the fact still remains, NO ONE IS CONSIDERING WHAT I WROTE ABOUT DEBUFFS AND STUFF!! will i have a better chance of winning if i do all that or not???

LOL.

I never thought of using invis pots, in fact i never knew it worked. o.O And i sub /thf as well, but thats just so i can get in to the action with astral flow or some such then run away and score without dying. works better than /whm cause i just die as /whm anyways. lol

I do pretty well as a THF. My targets tend to be DRK, BRD, WHM, BLM, and SMN(sometimes I avoid them but if they are there, I will go for them)

I normally linger around a lot on the enemies' flanks, check them for their petra count, etc. while /quarry. Once I get either a wing or a poison Potion, I'll SAnTA > Hide and go in, find my target, and Dancing Edge them. I'll hang around for the kill, all of the black mage + bard + DRK will sleep, bind, or stun me. Utsusemi will hold off bind and stun, poison will hold off sleep. Target will be dead almost instantly if taru, and may take a few more hits if not. Once it's over, I steal from the guy I saw with the most petra and mug anyone else with them, then flee off into a group of friendlies.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it has issues(many many many blms, smn stoneskin, blinkra, etc.) but it tends to work if teams are fair and even.

If you see me with a BLM DRK or RNG, just run. chances are, astral flow is up, and you will die. lol. I dont know how many times ive had someone try to run up, one shot me and take off, and it fails when the one shot gets eaten by blink, bind sticks, and they in turn eat astral flow. /sigh to people that think its cool to pick on the mages. :o

Oh yeah, i have a question for anyone experienced with ranged attacks/weapons??

I've been lvling up my Marksminship with Drk, and it's lvl 13/14 now. I got this thing called "HotShot". I think it's a Crossbow WS. So that brings up the question:

Can i use Ranged WS without being ranger, or more specifically, this WS with my Drk that has a crossbow??

To use any Ranged WS, you either need to be RNG/??? or ???/RNG.

i was leveling in onzozo with a 5 NA / 1 JP party once, the JP was the thf. we got an add and our bard slept it, but the JP started shooting at it so it woke up. with the communication barrier, we couldn't make our thf stop shooting at the add, so we literally had to fight two torama's at once. finally when it was all over, the JP says, "Sreep Arrow." "Put to sreep." Which means sleep arrow. But the problem was, the so-called sleep arrow was actually waking up the slept mob. Is it the same with sleep bolts?

@ Whisp's question, Sleep arrows/bolts dont always kick in sleep. Ive had it happen where 2/3 in a row on my THF hit and the sleep resists. :\

It's about a 90% chance. With Utsusemi up you can sleep tank a mob for a loooong time.
