question:
Is Fraps ok to use for capturing video (for 2.5 hours)? any other suggestion in video capture? does Fraps drive down the computer by a lot? I am new on this kind of stuff so any suggestion is welcome...

(I am going to try capturing some sky, HNM fight as soon as I get my hand on my new computer ^^)

(hopefully I will find Ullikuumi soon... need that for Kirin and it's been 2weeks with no pop)

fraps makes huge files i dis like 20 min and it was like 4+ gigs

for DAoC I use to make videos for the CKD gank group.

I use to make videos by connecting my computer to my TV and recording everything using my VHS. I would then play the tape back to my computer and record only the parts I wanted.

I did this long before fraps was a viable option. The fraps version back then wouldnt let you do larger then 800x600 and it slowed the computer down to 10fps. On top of that in DAoC stuff happens out of the blue so you would need to record alot to get a good sized video.

Anyway heres a sample of the video. Its a joke promo video I made. some people asked for help killing some enemies at a keep who killed them. I also took a good shot at some people we didnt like.

we had quite the bad rep since we just did our own thing and made fun of the rest of the server. We also kicked ass. People hated us since we didnt invite anyone into our guild, we wouldnt join an alliance and we did nothing but kill to get rps for our selves. We didnt do any Relic raid help er stuff like that so the big guilds hated us.

it was the second video I made so the editing is really really bad. The quality isnt that good too as you can see. I did manage to get better quality but never enough to read the text.

thats what I do I rec to VCR and use it for raw video then take only what I need in the computer then edit it add sound and done with no Gigabites just megabites

BTW did this in high school with digit(?s) video tapes and its clear as hell than old 3/4 tapes, That I used to edit in high school.
