Anyway, I was saying even if you spent money leveling your craft, that doesn't mean you have to consider it like a business. If someone ask you to help him with something, I don't see why the crafter could just say yes and agree to help him. You're forgetting something Kaylia, while a lot of are carefree with the money with have and equipment, those of us who are striving to reach our dream of 100 craft notice that CRAFTING IS BLOODY EXPENSIVE.

I have said time and time again, I don't like charging people, I will never charge a LS mate, and that I only charge so I can invest more into my craft. This is nothing like just buying a piece of equipment you like. That sort of investment can be "refunded" shall we say, and usually with a certain appreciation or depreciation of value. Whereas all this gil we're tossing into our crafting we will never see again.

Our only options are to craft: 1. In bulk, like shihei for example. 2. HQ, but this has been done with almost every item now (see Amemit Mantle) 3. For others.

I (obviously) see nothing wrong with having a crafting fee, as long as the price and terms are decided prior to the craft.

And I would never charge if I failed.

i dont' like charging people either...but what it comes down to for me is if i don't charge people i get an endless amount of /tells from everyone and their uncle trying to get me to craft stuff for them...i can't tell you how many times i've gotten /tells saying..."oh, i know so and so...i'm going to sell my harness and buy a claw so you can HQ it for me ok?"...or "i just did a scorp bcnm and got a claw...we want to see if we can make even more gil by you HQing a harness for us!"...me charging people is a deterrent so i have time to craft stuff for free for my LS and my friends...if you want free crafting...go through the long and arduous process of becoming my friend...simple as that :p

I was just telling mirb last night how numerous times a random person just goes and /tells me asking for me to desynth things that i would normally do to make money, except they expect it for free. Half the reason for crafting fee I agree is to avoid being used for my craft, and the other is obviously as mirb pointed out, I'd like to hit 100. After I hit 100 will I charge still, probably, more so to avoid being used than anything.

I totally agree. Random ppl asking for you to desyth? WTF. I use to be a mine whore and after ppl saw my synth results of making darksteel ingots and gold ingots, they would send me tells so I can craft the ore they dug up, for free.. wtf
