who the heck started this and wtf were they thinking. It is almost guaranteed that everytime I am not anon and on my main (54 pld) riding or running through a low level zone, at least one random stranger asks me to PL them. I always reply no b/c I am busy or whatever, and 9 times out of 10 I get crap back from the begger.

I am really wondering where this attitude came from and why people ever thought/think its ok? Whenever I am logging or something in a lower zone if I see someone who needs a heal or is in trouble I always stop and help out.. but I don't understand this recent turn of events.

If people can help me spread the word that its pretty rude to ask a random stranger to PL you-and even more rude to give them crap when they say no, that would be great.

I think I made my point to a guy last night while I was in east ronfaure. He gave me crap for not helping him lvl (he was on a lvl 6 pld w/ a whm subbed-wtf wouldn't you do a warrior I have no clue) that when I was in the northern part of the zone he had a gob on him that was killing him. Normally I would've stopped, cured him up, and stood there if the mob aggro'd to me while he finished it off. Instead because he was a jerk I watched him die, killed the mob after he died, then ran on w/o raising him. Could I have been the 'better person' and helped him out? sure, but it was much more enjoyable for me to watch his ass die :D (besides at level 6 its not like he lost a huge amount of exp).

if every1s getting PL then Vanadiel is doomed

I really think that it came with the PS2. I don't mean to make fun of any of those using the PS2, don't get me wrong, though. I simply think that with the release of FFXI on the PS2, a lot of friends who had already been playing wanted to powerlevel their friends, who had just bought it for PS2.

And so then so many new people see these guys getting powerleveled, not to mention maybe having someone powerlevel an entire valkurm dunes party, that it sort of just became the norm to ask.

I get asked a ton for powerlevels by people, and yeah, it is annoying. But I have also done my fair share of powerleveling, so I guess I contributed to the problem too.

Hah hah.

I have helped PL my boyfriend or perma pt mates as well, but thats no excuse to demand (in some cases yes they demand) that a totally random stranger to you PL you. You'd think common sense would tell you that.. of course nowadays it should be called uncommon sense :/

The sad thing is most players use bots to powerlevel themselves nowadays... for some odd reason it's ok as long as it's not your main job. Go figure!

i get tells all the time for a pwer lvl.... i say this "sorry im busy ATM" or "im loggin in a few mins", usually that makes them stfu and leave me alone... but on the rare occation they do flame me back, for those of you who have seen me pissed... you know they dont /tell me ever again

I had this noob looking for a PL just this weekend...

Actually, unless it's someone I know, it's an automatic NO to a powerlevel. It's not that I mind so much as I've spent way too much time playing in Qufim or Valkurm with people who don't know what they are doing and got powerleveled to that point.

As for helping people, I may well be the mostly likely level 75 on the server to just go help some random person or respond to a /tell. Often, when I'm busy, I'll come back to the person later and see if they still need help.

However, there is one person I will NEVER EVER help again. I had agreed to help this person in an hour and 1/2. I told him it was a bad time as I had RL things to do, but said I'd try to help before I had to log. I ended up getting killed in Ro'Maeve helping some friends so I was late and just didn't have time any more. He called me an ass and chewed me out.

Aside from the fact that I get bored of powerleveling after about an hour. The main reason I don't power level is that as a Bard I'd have to teach them how to macro invite accepting and disbanding and what not so they could get bard buffs and thus speed the process up.

And most n00bs are either unwilling to go through that effort even if i explained, or by the time i get it all worked out I'm already sick of plvling.

That Said I've plvl'd Ilm (and other people but mostly Ilm) through like half of the 10-37 levels on his Ninja and some on his warrior too.

The thing I hate the most is when I'm standing around in Full RDM AF and players ask me for a D2.

I'm not complaining about PLing-if you want to thats fine by me.. most of the people I've talked to so far in my career in FF power level like friends who are rolling a different job for kicks, or leveling up a subjob or 2.

My beef is with the rude people who ask a complete stranger out of the blue to PL them. The ones who give you crap when you say no I wish you could hit a button and insta kill them :P I always thought people asking for money was bad enough, but this is a whole new level of irritating.
