I made a joke about it a little while ago but now i wanna do it...
Im gonna start a LS called "Viper Kai Dojo" for all the people who want to join the CKD but arent allowed in yet.
as soon as i log on im gonna go make the LS...let me know if you want a pearl =D

I want people to be at least lvl 30 (not that hard to do)
And as of now it will have no actually purpose...I.E. we arent a NM LS, we arent a perma-party LS, were just gonna chat and help each other out and whine about not being a high enough level to be in the CKD =D

Not sure if that'll really work or not. A lot of people post 30 have an LS they're at least somewhat dedicated to. Unless they have a reason to give up their current LS -- ie, for help with AF or advanced job unlocking quests....

I'm not sure I'd give up my current LS. For one thing, most (formerly all) of my static group use this LS. Also, I'm a Pearlsack holder, so that does mean something as well.

I think you need to figure out a purpose for the LS. Sure, some people would say "Ahh, yeah, my current LS is not very talkative, so sure why not...." But others would say "If I can talk with my current LS, and some of them have jobs they can level with me, or can help me with AF or Level Cap Quest items, etc. ... Then why do I need to switch to one that's just about talking to friends?"

Just my thoughts.... Might want to keep an update though, and see if anyone actually joins up with it, or if you come up with a purpose. That might attract others, to think it's doing fairly well.

Anyways, I suppose if the idea was that it was mainly people that are too low level for CKD, it'd be good breeding grounds for those that wanted in. Of course, those in CKD could always have a Pearl if they wanted and hop in to check out someone's progress, or meet some of the "lowbies" in order to get an idea of if they'd be CKD material at higher levels.

My thoughts aren't really organized right now so... /ramble.....on and on and on.....

If you get what I'm saying, feel free to clarify.

lmao...okay, well, then i guess we can have a purpose...
we can hunt NMs? Kinda like the CKD except that we cant handle the ones they do...so we could just roam around fighting NMs and BCNMs as we please.
So far i can think of about 10 or so people who would actually join, friends from my current LS, and....Spork...lol.
maybe once its made we can all equip it and ramble on about what the purpose should be and if you dont like the outcome, drop the pearl =D
The thing you might not fully understand which i perseved from your "mini-rant" laguna, is that you assume this is to be a fully functional LS...its not. if it works out and has a purpose, then awesome and more power to me! and if it dosnt, then its gonna be fun just to equip and wear around the CKD when im hunting them down in Jeuno like yesterday =P

well, see that's something you didn't mention. The doing of BCNM's or something is ok, it's a purpose for the LS. I wouldn't mind doing some BCNM's myself on occassion.

But if you just go and say "Well, this is just for us to get together and talk" then a lot of people, unless they're Extremely good friends, probably already have strong ties to their current LS and not many would go ahead and switch. Some people would take the pearl as an "I'll check in once in a while...." thing, but if everyone does that, they typically never end up using the Pearl at the same time as others. People gradually lose interest and quit even trying since no one is ever on. Then they toss the pearl. It happens. It's a fact of life. That's why I asked if there was a "purpose" for the LS.

Unless you have extremely strong ties, you're just going to waste 8k on that Shell.... But, then again, let me know how it all works out. I'm more than willing to see how it turns out, and even join up if it's worth an inventory slot. But to have a purpose is always best... Even if it is just EXP'ing.

I think it's a great idea.. err.. but it should be rank5+/LV40+, or something along those lines.. and definetely filled with a purpose.. NM's/BCNM's.. but hey, you know I'm down, because you already gave me a pearl.. but let's see if it works out.

the only downside about it being 40+ and rank 5+ would be that I myself would not qualify for my own LS...
I am thinking about raising it to lvl 35+ though.
Plus, as far as usefulness, its intended for NM/BCNM/EXP parties along with Missions and Quests as they come up, but there are also other things that cant really be listed as a true "purpose" that it will still be useful for, such as Scroll delivery service =)

I think you all should just make an LS and not compare it to CKD. Maybe do something other than fight HNM's until you ge to that level. CKD is going to be full sooner or later, and then that'll be it. Make your own LS, it doesn't have to be CKD related, hehe. CKD does have a monopoly on most of the high level NA's, but there will be more to come, so start a new LS, and sooner or later you guys can go beat CKD at pulls and steal their HNM's.

Wouldn't "Getting to that level" will allow you to fight HNMs?

I understand what you mean Denchi, but the LS is already made and I really dont wanna kill it off just yet.
Besides, I love the constant chats Ive been having with people who are familiar with CKD...they think Ive done this just to rip you off, when its more like an affiliate =)
Just think of the VKD as the "little brother" to CKD, besides, who said anything about us ever getting into CKD? So what if the CKD becomes full? Maybe we wont ever get into the CKD, I could care less, believe it or not my life isnt that sad. However when you think about it...
How long can someone continue playing once theyve gotten their jobs and aspects as high as some of you? By the time were even able to compare with you, I'm willing to bet money at least 10 of the CKD will have retired from FFXI, and when that happens, you'll need someone new wont you =)
Anyway, dont wanna argue over this, it was originally made overall to be fun, so I dont wanna take the fun out of it.

you reach the caps, fine, dandy, and we keep leveling, so that all of us will eventually even out.
it may only be a matter of months (not even that long for some of the people on VKD already)

I think it's a great idea for aspiring CKD prospects who dream of getting into their group eventually. While helping each other out at low, or mid lvls, this Link Shell can work on qualities that might be needed within CKD in the future.

I think it's a pretty good idea, except for one thing. No purpose. I understand you are just testing it out, but what if it does evolve into something more? Without purpose, the Link Shell will not be out to help the Link Shell, every member will be out for themselves, then the Link Shell will break up anyway due to bonds not being formed through battle. But other than that, great idea Vi.

P.S: I would join, but i'm a pearl holder of another Link Shell, and it wouldn't be right to ditch them cause we just started rebuilding because of a ????? that caused coruption within it..........

okay, first of all, there IS a purpose, in face there are several purposes, and with time and level, the purpose will change.
Right now, its going to be Permapty, NM and BCNM.
Once we have a few more members, and a few people who are active on the LS (as in actually equip it for more than a few minutes a day)
Were going to gather a group and go beat up on BCNM30 and 40, as a RDM i will need the Phalanx and Dispel scrolls, however all and any other drops at the BCNM or along the way will be up for grabs, for instance if a different scroll drops, whoever is there may feel free to lot for it, unless its something a certain members needs, similar to the rules for CKDs lotting, you need to tell me BEFOREHAND what scrolls/items the BCNM can possibly drop that you actually NEED.
And as always, i mean NEED as in you will USE the scroll/item, not just sell it...and you can bet if i see a sales status on AH will your name and that item, youre in for some heat, but i doubt anyone on the LS would be that mean since most of the members ive either known for awhile or have heard good things about them...or they are just members of the CKD.
So within the next two weeks or so, keep some jobs roughly around the levels of 30 and 40, im going to use RDM for BCNM40 and BLM for BCNM30 just so every knows, we will talk more about this as the time draws nearer though.

And second of all, about GoshinaSinsOfHell...
The whole LS is crumbling over Goshina and Isisgirl fighting over something, thats all i really know. the only reason i know is because my friend used to have that LS equipped and i'd watch him play, thus i got to witness all the drama. I myself had a pearl to it at one time but tossed it because i now have roughly 5 LS and i try to use them all every day.

To answer your question Athiest, her name was Isisgirl, the one who corrupted our Link Shell. The leader is a guy, and his name is Goshina.

Really upset alot of us when all that non-sense went down, but history is history i guess. We started another one, with much less noobs, and less her. So we doing fine i would say now.

And that's right, Goshina and Isisgirl's drama (mostly Isisgirl's need for attention and having everything handed to her..../em sigh) was what broke us up. Alot of people couldn't take it anymore, and just left. But i promised my friend Goshina that i would tough it out with him, and help him rebuild the once helpful Link Shell. I felt i owed it to him, and my Link Shell, loyalty is something i'm about once i find someone freindly and reliable to me. I'm just sad it had to end the way it did. (that's why i hate marriages in Vandiel now, too much drama).
