Rofl, they got it down to 70% and it started charming people with Virelai, and it used Benediction for the 3rd time. Back to 100%

Yeah GMs are probably just playing with them now, they should have called a maintenance to fix the glitch but instead they made AV amusingly impossible lol

or has AV moved out of the glitch spot and is just killing them normally?

Dunno if GM would toy that long with them. If they wanted to wipe them, they would have done it quickly, or just started a maintenance.

Wouldn't the GMs have to change shifts or something like normal people? Or do they have GMs in HK too? lol

GMs wouldnt toy with people. The only thing a GM could do with that HNM is respawn it. I doubt very much that GMs (even LGM) would have rights to reset a mobs 2h's and stuff like that.

Developers on the otherhand can do stuff like that, but theres a good chance that they would need to restart the zone.

I will give them hella credit for doing what is rather impossible, exploit or not I think AV should have died by now on at least a few servers CFH or not). I'd also think that they have tryed just about every damn strategy imaginable + some. The problem I see with reg. linkshells vs. a dvelopers' team in this game beating a mob is that LS worked for every damn thing they got, it takes players several months to years just to accomplish certain feats. A damn dev. team can fully customize a character (a league of 18 of whatever race is needed, job is needed, armor/equip needed, etc etc. vs. the given mob they are fighting in a few short minutes or hours on the Atomos test server), They can maximize stats and merits to have the best possible character in the alliance. A maxed out merited job is equal to level 90+ or so I have heard plus cream de la cream of equipment (adaman, dalms. koenig, relics, af2+, relics, jailor weapons + infinite stones or whatever it was to use them that remained in the ammo slot.) It just seems all highly unfair and BS to me even if the dev. team do try AV again and wind up defeating it.

:/

Supa, I don't think it's even possible with 18 people to kill AV. You will get screwed one way or the other by one of its 2000 dmg AoE.

And now, the fact it's spamming benediction every hour or so make it even harder. It used benediction 10 time already. It's still possible there is a trick to make him weaker, but you have to give hint at least. Player tried the most obvious choice already, and nothing happened

Not that it would/will ever happen, but I think it would be cool for all the major linkshells in a server to gather together in sea, pop AV, call for help on him, and proceed to just mob him to death with hundreds of people..... just for the sake of actually killing the jerk. And hey get shared credit as being the first server to drop AV while they are at it.

no loot, no title, zerg win? thats not worth bragging about

when u fight a mob for that long, I think its time for those people to step back from there computer, go outside and then quit the game.

Sorry, but AV or no AV, your pathetic in my mind to go for that long over a pixel monster. I think its time for all of them to just quit.

They hold it during the night. It's not like they all stayed up 30 hours.

Anyway, they gave up and AV won the fight again. Cant fight benediction

spending 30 hours on a project isnt pathetic so why would this particular incident be that. hobbies rarely ever leave you with anything more than frustration and satisfaction... which is the same thing this game and any other game does.

unless your life is 100% productive i wouldnt be attempting to call people pathetic haha. of course i wouldnt do what they did, but i know some of the things i call hobbies and enjoy i can see myself spending hours simlar to what they put into this attempt.

Xiona.

Everything in moderation

I think that is the expression that would best fit here. Hobbies are great. Sure they leave you feeling warm and happy or frustrated and motivated for next time. Sometimes they just leave you frustrated.

However, I would never consider a hobbie that consumed 30 back to back hours OK.

FFXI in general is not bad, its a good hobbie, however, this 30 hour stint is not what FFXI is all about and it is not something people should strive to achive.

I mean seriously, would you think someone who spent 30 hours back to back making Paper Airplanes OK?

Everything in moderation.

They didn't all spend 30 hours fighting it, it just popped 30 hours ago and they took it in shifts (lol) to hold it up while everyone got some sleep. This is the kind of thing where your EU players come in useful haha.

If you want to compare it to a hobby I think making a model or something that needs someone to hold it in place overnight while you sleep before adding the final touch that makes it self supporting.

Plus like anything, once you've got going and have glimpsed the end "hey guys, this is getting pathetic now" isn't going to mean anything because giving up while you still think you can beat it is just making the whole thing a waste of time.

Unlike what they did, gave up after 10+ benedictions is a clear sign that it's time to stop lol.
