While you might not be able to J, I bet Vaelen can. He should be able to access a server log of all file requests. Put the URL to that attachment into the log, and get a list of IP addresses.

Then post them all here so we can use mod powers to match them against everyone who has ever posted here.

although i suppose the results might be slightly skewed...i play on ps2 so i can download mrargus all day and try my damndest to get it into my ps2 with no avail...although according to GMs it's possible to hack on ps2 also.

sometimes i worry about my $5 keyboard i use for ps2 that has a Turbo button that apparently does nothing lol gonna push it today! get gm calls ready :p

K I d/l'd it for the hell of it, ran virus scanner, got squat, so looked okay there, 37 files in the zipped folder, looked like 2 or 3 program...trashed it after that.

Looks like a legit bot to me...as legit as a hacking program can be anyway.

Meh, I hardly play anymore and I'm not about to start playing a lot again and as much as I hate RMTs and hackers, I'm not about to become a hypocrite and stoop to their level.

Edit: If I do have my account hacked it wouldn't be worthwhile, I only have like 2 worthwhile items on my entire account my O.Kote (400k when I bought em lol) and a Monster Signa (gift from a friend who quit)

I really doubt it would be detected by a virus scan if it's a program activated manually. That said, chance is DD can't program a keylogger or anything like that, so it's probably the real thing.

If the file is totally legit then DD was most likely right. Only problem now Is that whoever can find that post can get the hacks. I imagine most people would download out of sheer curiosity, but that isn't far from learning how to hack with the tools. Anyway I'll stick with the windower thanks.

Well honestly, you every single one of those hits will give the same excuse of how they deleted it, or stopped it, or whatever. lol. And you'd know knew who was being truthful or not. But time would tell anyways, as you see people teleporting, or some shit.

And as far as it being deleted from the site, i don't think it would matter to someone that doesn't play the game anymore lol. And quite honestly, how can anyone think these days that they have absolutely no one in thier LS with a bot, if all other ls's have bots. Sometimes its easier to live in ignorance of it, or truely wanting to believe it, but the reality of it it now adays, is that it's just not realistic. I think every LS now has been busted about bots at some point or another now? And guess what... the world went on lol.

I'm not saying "omg go get a bot", because honestly i don't care, since i hate HNM and you will mostlikely never see me at a camp if i had my way (which so far i've avoided decently). It's just all too much drama. But i can see why people would want to from another job standpoint. It's easy for me not to care about them as a whm or blm. but even if the drama wasn't there, 4 hours in a little room just doesn't sound fun lol. I just find it funny that every LS says "we don't bot" then some day it comes out that they did, and it's either "no you lie" even with proof, or "yeah so what we botted", or ignored all together. Do you really lose sleep over it? Or is it more from the stand point of something to read while at work lol

Honestly, the whole issue just makes me sad.

We play this game for the enjoyment of doing fun things with people we like. Yet everyone complains about how dull XP is, how difficult it is to claim an HNM or a land king or whatever, how boring it is to do missions. If you don't want to put effort into that stuff...then just don't play.

If you enjoy the game then play it honestly. Do you value anything in the game you didn't have to work for???

My group beat U/O on our first serious try...that was awesome because we didn't even expect to beat it. We didn't cheat, we just used our game skills that we learned along the way and got very very lucky. It wasn't even a perm or group of ppl who knew each other well. That was very fun....that's why we play.

My LS came very close to beating Tiamat in a straight up toe-to-toe fight the other day. That was great fun. Yeah we all died a lot and we didn't quite win in the end...but we did it honestly and fairly and used the skills we learned in the game. We didn't whine or complain afterward, we just launched into a discussion about how to finish off that last 2% next time.

If you're cheating to beat something...where is the fun in that? What is the fun in a guaranteed win?

Likewise, what is the value of having an item that you acquired dishonestly? Did you earn an item if you or someone in your group cheated to claim the mob that dropped it? Did you earn an item if you unfairly earned the gil to buy it or whatever?

Basically, who the heck are you cheating if you don't play honestly? You are cheating yourself out of enjoying the game. It's pretend money or items on a make-believe character in an imaginary world. It doesn't have any intrinsic value outside of the game. (Well unless you sell your character on Ebay which facilitates someone else's cheating...) The value of an item is really the value you assign to it by your effort.

More importantly, if you do something that cheats other people, then you ruin your ability to play with those people because you've got a bad reputation. Then basically you might as well quit the game, because you can't do much alone after you've alienated everyone.

FYI, just because it passes a Virus scan doesnt mean its a clean zip. some backdoor programs will register with Norton as a normal program. Norton works based on its definitions. So your norton will not detect the backdoor trogan if its not known to norton.

The best way to avoid it is to not download it at all.
