I made a comment about this earlier in Dynamis, and I've discussed it with a few people before, but I want to post it and get other people's opinions as well.

Is there a correlation between personality style and the end game jobs we've all chosen?

I think there definitely is. I think a while ago Whisp posted a connection between job choices and astrological signs. I was born a gemini and the corresponding job was RDM. Here's something I found about it, shortened for the sake of not taking 10 years to read, (also stuff I didn't think fit my personality when I read it haha. ;p

In their intellectual pursuits, as in other departments of their lives, they risk becoming dilettantes, losing themselves in too many projects which they follow until they become difficult.

In love they are fickle, not intentionally so but because of the basic inconsistency of their emotional nature, which has an amoral aspect to it. Their is a side to Geminians which can become deeply involved emotionally, and another, hostile to sentimentality, which stands back from a romantic situation, laughing at it and the protagonists in it, including themselves while analyzing it intellectually.

They are often skilled manipulators of language, in speech and writing. In the arts they may excel in music, painting and sculpture.

Compare this dichotomy to a rdm. A balance of both sides, magically. Astrology need not apply in the case, but how would you describe your own personality? Perhaps there are similarities between people who picked the same jobs.

From the moment I got the game I knew I wanted to be a Paladin. I'm not a huge believer in astrological signs but keeping in the spirit of the post I was born a Leo, August 6, and many of Leo's attributes are what I'd expect from a Paladin.

I had no idea what the jobs function was at the time of deciding that I did want to be a Paladin but I knew the job involved the protection of others and other virtuous traits. Cecil from FF2 has always been my favorite Final Fantasy character also.

At first glance I looked at this thread and read SS's post, I thought it was a rather fun and interesting idea. Seemed interesting seeing how jobs are possibly linked to personalities of people. However once I clicked into the http://www.astrology-online.com link... my night took a downfall.

Reading about my astrological sign was very heavy to me. Reason being is because that site doesn't throw useless junk at you. It doesnt give you small fantasies of yourself like a horoscope, but rather it gets complex. As I read, I began to realize flaws in myself that I hadn't really noticed before. I myself am a sagittarious, and noticed a few things I need to work on personally. People i've spoken to about this say it's good i've come to terms and realized my flaws (Step 1). I just hope I have the strength to continue my path in fixing them.

Thank you for starting an interesting thread at this time of night SS. Personally I needed this outlook on my life. Thank you.

I'm a Gemini as well, and my very first job was RDM. I quit is at 21 though and took up whm til 75. I guess you can say I enjoy helping others, so I guess my job choice was more personality then astrology?

But, the more i look at these, the more i find in myself the need to forgive easier. Its so obvious how each one of us make mistakes and have defects. Though its implemeted how we react in our brains, i think its never too late to change.
I took the time to read them all, even though i dont believe in the signs, i do see resemblanse to people's personality attached to these signs.

Well at first, of course I was a SAM. SAM attracted me because I respect the code of the samurai, which to me, means standing up for what your ideals are no matter what others think of them and you. Having respect for your friends as well as your foes. Now, i'm a SMN which, to me embodies discipline, as you need lots of that, and patience to make it to endgame with SMN. It's not all about the "right now", but the goal at the end of the road. Now that I think about it, both of these jobs take qualities that all Capricorns have. (Just overlook any typos, I haven't had my coffee yet.)
