Hey all, I've kinda been considering quitting FFXI... I've been playing for a long time now, but never seem to go anywhere, and seeing all my friends cap out before me has really started to get to me...I've already been playing less and less, going days...weeks, hell, I hardly touched the surface of Vana Diel from November til January. The only thing that keeps me playing every now and then is all the great friends I've made, I'm worried that if I stopped playing, I would lose contact with alot of wonderful people, and I really dont want that to happen... I know theres probably some of you out there who dont like me very much, and always just kinda thought of me as a "fan boy", but in all honestly, what do you guys think I should do? I had hoped the love I once had for the game would return once I took a break, but unfortunately its just not compelling to me anymore...of course there are still plenty of goals I wished I couldve done, and have had plenty of time to do it, I've been around just as long as most people here...I've still never seen sky...I've never even fought the shadow lord...I know I know, It's a dumb goal, but ever since I first discovered the story line of the game, Its always been a goal...I never got to see and experience Dynamis...and probably wont... But I'm still very very torn between quitting and driving on, what is everyones opinion? |

Yeah, there is simply two options.... 1- play as slightly as you do already..... 2- or quit.... Sure the second option means you will spend less time with your online friends, but there are always forums..... and you can either play another game ![]() |

Quitting the game scare me for the same reason. There is a way too many people I would miss. Anyway, don't give up now, not so close from the "fun" part. Five level before dynamis, Zilart mission (which are really cool) are 60+, not to mention Rdm become upper and solo anything |

yeah. People really think this game requires you to put in lots of hours. You dont have to. So you might not level up as fast or stuff like that. Just hop on and level here and there and have fun. People lose sight that this is a game alot. |

have you done cop missions vivi, that kinda starts pulling you back into this game, in fact it starts making you feel like your in a final fantasy game. I don't look at you as a fan boy, don't feel like that either. In fact why don't you try and come with us to come some cop missions to see what i'm talking about. They can be frustrating but trust me it can be rewarding though |

if i were you, id slowly work towards all of those goals achieving them one by one till you have none left it's only then that you can quit the game feeling as if you've done what you intended to do and it makes it feel all the more worth it btw, the "fun" things at higher levels require enormous amounts of time and should be avoided at all costs >< |

there will always be more goals unless you max all jobs and crafts, finish all quests and missions, obtain the best gear, and kill all the NMs, but that won't happen |

Those missions are the only thing keeping some of my friends still playing. (and are a huge influence on other friends). |

Thanks guys, I guess it's cool playing lightly for awhile longer, i might not get 3 levels a day like alot of people I know, but every little bit helps. I guess eventually everyone has to quit sometime, I had hoped to be playing this for a bit longer before feeling so burned out on it, but I think hopping on like once or twice a week should be enough to get some stuff done and keep in touch with some really good friends who I pretty much only talk to through FFXI, mainly people like Milamber, who I hope to meet this summer, Punkrawk, pretty much all of you in the CKD, I know we dont quite talk, but its nice having people to wave to running through jeuno, haha. |

And to MetalMilitia, awesome, I would like to get some CoP stuff done and also exp sometime, lemme know when you wanna try and do it, I'll probably be on sometime tomorow. |

Heh, Austin...Great party place (I went to grad school there). Don't let others leveling up get to you...everyone levels at their own pace. Some of my best friends made 75 two months before me, some are still working on it. As for people leaving, I find that a lot of folks make level 75 their main goal and find the end game less than interesting. I've been 75 about a month and feel the same way. On the other hand, I have several friends who quit for RL or WoW or whatever, and missed it so much they came back. I guess I learned early on that leveling is not a competition and you have to let go of that competitiveness to enjoy where you are in the game. I also am happy that I reached my main goal and can regain some of my real life while more slowly working on stuff like crafting and CoP and leveling other jobs. After about 10 months of gaming, I feel like I'm emerging from the virtual Vanadiel world to enjoy the real world again. I don't want to get that deep into gaming again and I think it's healthy to maintain a balance between real life and game life. Do what makes you happy and successful in both. ^^ |

If you ever need a new home - look up myself and Nickster (aka Nickg) in WoW on the Bleeding Hollow server (offer extended to my Taru-of-infinate-healing Milamber too). :D |
