I don't know how cosplay is any different than playing a video game, it is just something they do for fun. Granted, I'm too self-conscious to ever wear a costume of that sort, but then again I can't stand acting either. But I never see cosplay as something "Losers" do~ or "disturbing"... I mean its almost as disturbing seeing how much time is put into a video game~ (to people that don't appreciate video games). **DISCLAIMER** I will add that seeing the not-so-attractive people doing cosplay is kind of disturbing.... but costume or not, that never is much fun. :P |

I'm sorry, I also find it oddly horrifying, but I'm obligated to respect anyone who can make a costume like that. Freak or no freak some of those Cosplays were pretty damn good compared to other horrible creations I've seen before. |

Actually some of the costumes are pretty good. I like that one w/ the woman in "the kid" costume doing the ZM16 cutscene pose, since I think everyone knows I love that BC :P |

At least I havn't done any FFXI cosplay yet, personally I havn't seen anything in game that makes me wanna make the costume...However if I ever DO make a cosplay of someone from FFXI... I would totally go to a con as Maat. |

lol I think cosplay can be really neat, and retarded at the same time. For instance, those costumes yarr had linked were really awsome. So much detail, and very well made- and well worn too. If you want to put the time and effort into making such a great costume, I think thats cool. Its just like a hobby for people. I don't think its horrifying at all if its done right. Now on the otherhand....When cosplay goes wrong...Costumes horribly made, look like they are for holloween...worn by horrible models who don't fit the type at all of what they are cosplaying... *shudder* Unfortunately most cosplay i've seen is that bad kind..thats why alot of people tend to bash it I think. |
