anyone recognize this piece of junk?>

Here is some of the useful info it will teach you about FFxi.

Warrior: WAR/PLD seems unstoppable. It's all the tank you will ever need. Taru should level warrior to sub for mage jobs.

Monk: Monk role is backup tank. Best mobs to fight are worms and rabbits. If you use boost while you walk from place to place, it won't take up any extra time. Go MNK/RDM so you can enfeeble monsters to exploit their weaknesses.

White Mage: Can enfeeble with Diaga2 and Dia3. Definitely make a /p macro for Cure 1. Level white mage to sub for paladin, so you will have a larger mp pool.

Black Mage: Use terrain to your advantage--monsters are limited by terrain just like you! They have to go around cliffs too! Whether you are soloing or in a party, start the battles with bind and huge nukes. Go BLM/SMN and use your avatars to cure.

Red Mage: Red mages are melee fighters that can cure in a pinch. Focus on STR and DEX. Galka rdm just need a good sword, they can cure mages if mages ever get attacked. Elvaan rdm should focus on "en" spells. Mithra rdm are best up front hitting a creature's flank. Hume rdm should enfeeble before going in for the attack. Never equip staff, since it means you can't equip a shield. For subjob, go RDM/WAR for the hit points and survivability. If you are leveling rdm to be a sub, go BRD/RDM so that you can enfeeble and nuke the enemy as a bard. As for macros, make a Blaze Spikes macro and also a "Starting skillchain in 3" macro.

Thief: Basically level thief for NIN/THF since you will see NIN/THF often be the pullers.

Paladin: At high levels, every party must have a paladin. PLD/WAR are pullers. Sub PLD/WHM if you are in a party to kill undead. If you are leveling pld for subjob, go BST/PLD for the extra defense.

Dark Knight: Usually seen duo'ing with a pld or war. DRK become better at fighting arcana over time with both offensive and defensive bonuses being added at several levels. DRK/WAR and DRK/SAM are your options. And never sub DRK.

Beastmaster: Pets will cause the party to be slammed with an EXP penalty after every fight.

Bard: Best melee song combo is Madrigal and March.

Summoner: Before you level summoner, travel the world hunting spirits. Don't get avatars, just spirit pacts. Subjob choices include SMN/BLM for devastating nukes, and SMN/BRD so you can fire threnody before summoning Ifrit. SMN can never solo, they are paper dolls. As for pulling, the reason you pull with Carbuncle is because he has weaker physical attacks, thus the monster won't hate the summoner as much when he returns to fight the party.

Samurai: Samurai has the AGI to ensure attacks will land with accuracy. You should macro Warding Circle with /p DEMONS ARE ATTACKING!

Ninja: Taru nin should sub a mage job. Elvaan nin should fight either from behind the enemy or the enemy's flank. Never sub nin, it's a hard sell since the good ninjutsu is 38+ and because ninja has poor job traits. NIN/RDM is an elemental fighter. Ninjas fill these roles: enfeebler, magician, self-enhancer, and damage dealer. This job is most closely related to a dark knight. But if you do choose to be a ninja, keep this in mind: A party that is light on healing magic will be reluctant to take a ninja.

Dragoon: Dragoons have the best mobility. They are great damage dealers, second only to dark knights. But don't get too excited about jumps, they don't make up for the loss of a physical attack.

Tarutarus: They are smaller and therefore can evade hits.

Hand-to-hand weapons: These have very low delay between attacks, so it's possible to make two attacks at once.

Monsters: AVOID MONSTERS WITH POISON OMGOMGOMG

Spells: All spells have elemental properties, for instance: Teleport spells are wind based. Enwater is ice. All avatars are light, all spirit pacts are light, and all bar-spells are light based.

This concludes todays lesson from Brady Game guide. Hope you learned a lot!!! I'm gonna make a party tonight that looks like this:
WAR/PLD tanking.. UNSTOPPABLE
PLD/WAR or NIN/THF pulling
RDM/WAR to start skillchain with sword and shield
NIN/RDM as a kind of elemental fighter to end skillchain
BLM/SMN main healer
SMN/BLM to spam stone 1.

I got that junky book...

Y'know, it also says you can fish up a Dhamel type monster in Yhoater Jungle, haha.

I never really got any good from the guides...anything important in FFXI is taught by someone else who plays the game...I remember being like...lvl 18 and asking a party "Is RDM/RNG a good combo?"

everyone "NO. BLM or WHM."

Lol...and I was a RDM/WAR noob for the first 25 levels as well, lmao, its no wonder I never hit 75.

Throughout the guide I they always mention galka like this:

"for a galka monk, add in knuckles that increase accuracy, so the low galka dexterity doesn't get in the way." omg galka tied for 2nd highest dex.

"even though a galka thf can hit their enemies hard, they lack attack speed and accuracy." attack speed? wtf, no comment.

"normally, a galka ninja isn't fast enough to keep up with the lithe mithra or tiny tarutaru." not fast enough? where do they come up with these stats...

Lie. My guide used to live in the corner. Then my cat pissed on it, so now it lives in the trash.

i only use it for spells and equipment.. but now that doesnt really help because its soooo friggin outdated.. the thing that really bugs me though is that it doesnt tell you how to get the AF... i duno i think that should be a main factor in a guide.
