You know what I don't understand is why Crafters charge more if they +1? I don't see them giving your gil back when they fail. The person supplying the ingr. is taking the chance not the crafter. :evil:

heh id pay 1 mil if somone hqd me a tunic and be happy about it, that 1 mil probably wouldnt even cover a whole level of crafting higher up for them

I usually give the crafter a little extra if they hq but it's more of a tip... I just kind find it funny you have to play more for something your taking all the risk on. ;)

see the thing is to raise the craft that we have chosen we have put millions of gil into it, so i think charging for our service is reasonable, and if im undercutting the going rate im sorry, i dont know what it is, fill me in and i will change it ^_^ .

Don't get me wrong, it makes complete sense to charge others for your crafting service... but charging somebody extra for HQing a syth seems unfair to me. The main reason being I am the one taking all the risk with my $$$ ingrts. If the crafter fails he/she just shrugs it off(with the crafting fee) while the players walks away losing thousands to millions of gils.

And I'm sure you're quite willing then to spend a mil on a nq item? Yeah right, let all crafters start charging more for nq so they won't for hq.

A NQ Amement Mantle costs nothing (I think they are like 20k or so)
A HQ Amement Mantle costs ~1 mil

That's a pretty big difference and if you charge the same amount your are losing a TON of potential profit...

I'm not talking about HQ items in general. I'm talkin about crafting service fees. For example, if I need an Amemet Cape crafted I would look for a leathercrafter @ level 6o+. I would play that person the standard 5o-1ook crafting fee for their services. If for some reason or another he/she HQs the cape it would be great. However, I don't think I should pay more for something I bear all the risk on.

Amemet Cape Ingredients = 3ook
Amemet Cape 5k
Amemet Cape +1 Over 1m
Crafting Fee 5o-1ook

As you can see from the numbers I stand to lose 3oo-4ook on a Non HQ item. :evil:

You're completely forgetting one thing Rune, what if you had me craft you a vermillion. I HQ it and you go on your merry way. What if you decide to sell it? Are you going to send me the extra profit you made if I had NQ? Just a point of view.

Edit: Yeah with the amemit mantle situation, some items have been mass produced so the regular items drop painfully low in value while the materials and HQ remain high.

Ya mike, but let's say you fail the syth and lose my 4mil in ingrts. You walk away with my 1ook crafting fee and I walk away with nothing minus the 1ooK fee. I can't blame anyone but myself because I took the risk in hopes of getting +1. I usually reward a crafter with a little extra gils when they +1 an item for me but that's a gift and not required.

Ok, I can agree with that too. It's just that some people *may* try to take advantage of a crafter for profit, you know? But at the same time, losing expensive materials and no *coverage* does suck. So let's just keep things as they are, because some situations may differ. :wink:

Not just because I am a crafter, :twisted: but...If I HQ something for you, you only got that HQ because I raised my craft skill to get there, regardless of the NQ, the HQ is even more so a result of me spending tons of gil to get there...
And if we didn't charge for HQing something, then like Mike said who is gonna keep you from selling the HQ for rediculous price, and taking the extra gil, buying the original NQ, and then making money off something I worked for and you only farmed for....? :D

And whats so bad about paying a million extra for a +1 harness? You walk away with a 14 million (dont know current prices) item that cost you 1-5 million, depending if you bought the craw or got it from your ls. You cant expect from the crafter that he lets you walk away with an item like that while he himself only got a louzy 100k.

yeah i never heard of a crafter charging after the synth is made if it fails, you do usually pay after the synth is made. i think you really just need to craft and see like holy shit im tossing hundreds of thousand of gil out and i didnt get a .1

I never had to pay up front for synths like my dalmatica etc, it was agreed that if it failed, I dont pay, lol I almost wanted to say "Gee, thanks". But yea, I wouldn't charge someone if it fails, but theres been too many situations where people have tried to have me synth just to make them money, so if it HQs your paying that extra mil or whatever I agree upon before synth.

Well I wouldnt charge friends or LS members crafting fees. I see it as I am making them uber gear so they can better help the LS as a whole. As for crafting for ppl i dont know, I would charge them after the syn based on failure, NQ, HQ, HQ+... obviously i wouldnt charge for a failure. Whatever items werent lost i would trade them back with a swift /comfort :) For those you dont know, I think you do have to charge extra for the HQ/HQ+ becasue they are probably going to be satisfied with the NQ so if you HQ it, they might sell it on AH and buy the NQ like Mibry said ;P

I spent a lot of time leveling my character to 75, I had to buy a lot of pricey gear that I will never sell, but does that mean I should ask people a fee whenever I'm helping them?

Even if more money is involved in crafting, I don't think it's much different.

If you dont think crafting is much different, then I'm sure you want to raise the craft to 95+ yourself to craft your end game armor for "free", then. Would you rather spend millions, or a 500k fee for a HQ?
