Final Fantasy XI PC pack coming August 16
Bundle that includes the original MMORPG, its two expansion packs, and Tetra Master minigames sells for $29.99 next month.

Final Fantasy XI: The Vana'diel Collection will ship for the PC on August 16, Square Enix announced today. The bundle includes the original Final Fantasy XI, the expansion packs Rise of the Zilart and Chains of Promathia, the Tetra Master minigames, and a free 30-day trial to the massively multiplayer online role-playing game.

"We are very pleased to be able to bring Final Fantasy XI to gamers in a much more accessible package," said Ichiro Otobe, president and COO of Square Enix. "Since the launch three years ago, Final Fantasy XI has constantly evolved, always incorporating the demands of players, so I think the newcomers will really enjoy the experience that awaits them in Vana'diel."

The MMORPG works across platforms, meaning that owners of the PlayStation 2 version can play in the same universe as those that are playing the PC version. An Xbox 360 edition, announced at this year's E3, is currently in the works.

In the game, players are at the center of a three-nation tussle for power in the world of Vana'diel, but soon the struggles between the warring states are overshadowed by an unknown evil force. Using spellcasting and the technologyof the alternative universe, adventurers will battle beasts and accomplish quests with other online players.

Final Fantasy XI: The Vana'diel Collection is rated T for Teen and will retail for $29.99. For more details on the game, read GameSpot's full review of the original.

Wow that's tempting...I should be getting a better PC soon...my brother in law is custom building me a gaming PC...I might actually take up this offer and come back in August.
