There's a very long thread on alla by people posting their findings on how Luck Runes work. While it's not yet complete (at least, not to my knowledge) it does provide some insight as to what they're all about.

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?f ... 26&num=350 is where it's at (it's like 8 pages long now, so beware... but I'm pretty sure the initial post has been continually updated to provide the latest theories/facts)

I just read over it a little bit. Luck runes correspond to directions. The directions are given out when you recieve a fortune from the new title change NPCs. You visit(?) the luck runes with a partner whose title is the same as the one given by the advice of the title change NPC. Then you check(?) trade(?) an item to the luck rune and perhaps recieve something.

I dunno, its weird. I don't think they've figured it out yet. Too much Batman/Adam West logic going on in there.

Luck Rune ... Rune rhymes with Bune, Bune spawns in a tunnel ... Tunnel worms live in tunnels that are made of dirt ... dirt where plants grow ... plants... omg check your mog house plants at the next full moon!!!11one

Congratulations. That's the freaking funniest thing I've heard all day. haha

I've been following this thread for a while but I'm not really convinced that anyone has any clue what's really going on with these things.

lol, you'd think I'm kidding, but check out this post:

Quote:
Quote:The balance distinguishes not between lead and gold.

A gram of gold has exactly the same number of electrons, protons and neutrons as a gram of lead. When you hold a gold coin in your hand you are in essence holding the same exact substance as an equal amount of lead, the only difference is how the individual particles work together.

Compare this to a XP party, the same bad party could be the same good party, the only difference being the dynamics of how they work together.

Quote:The hippogryph has fair feathers but foul feet.

This perhaps could read "The Peacock has fair feathers but foul feet." It is a antique proverb meaning "Nothing is beautiful from every angle." The symbol for San D is indeed the hippograph. San D has much beauty within its walls, yet a sewer lies beneath.

And people are counting how many words are in each clue and crazy stuff like that, haha The people that work at SE aren't autistic, but the riddles usually take nothing more than some footwork and trial and error.

Or that, like I said, I don't know anything about the quest. Just from what I've read at Alla, which is like knowing nothing at all anyway.

supposedly you unlock a song or something at the end or some cool prize. Which by SE's definition will be 2 stacks of water crystals.

Its always nice when the forums change colors on you...

Anyway from what I can gather you go get your fortune.

It gives you a color and a direction with a title for you perfect partner.

the direction takes you to a zone which is stated in the first post but I'll quote as to not lose people

Quote:
~~Confirmed Rune Locations:~~
-> Qufim Island, on the way out to behemoth's dominion.
-> Lufaise Meadows, shortly after you zone from the swirling vortex (from valkurm), head towards the safehold, it is in the first "canyon" area you pass through.
-> Xarcabard, Head up to J-7, there is a tunnel heading east at the southern end of the square. Follow it around to the end, you will end up in J-8, there is a rune at the end.
-> Tahrongi Canyon, Around H-10, in the center of the complex region at the bottom of the map.
-> Yuhtunga Jungle, drop down the hole on the way to yhoator from kazham.
-> Pashhow Marshlands, K-7. Head up behind the outpost, it is in the first "large" area back there.
-> Beaucedine Glacier, H-7 on the ledge above the tower that is in I-7.
-> Batallia Downs,The entrance is at the top center of F-7, goes NE into the bunker.

~~~
~~Confirmed Directions With Locations:~~
North: Tahrongi Canyon.
South: Yuhtunga Jungle.
West: Pashhow Marshlands.
Northwest: Batallia Downs.
North/Northwest: Beaucedine Glacier
West/Northwest: Lufaise meadows.
Far Northwest: Qufim Island.
A great distance Northwest: Xarcabard
Color, to me, logically represents days of the week.
Title thing...grab a friend with that title.
Head to the rune and examine it on the Day of your color to get your prize.
Thats the most logical conclusion I can come to...I didn't read much more than a few posts on Alla because they were more into the cryptic message given the second time you talk to her than testing any theories.
