Yeah that screenshot is all over the place now, pretty sure it's a Blue Mage.

Bottom screenshot shows them breathing fire, the next one up looks kind of like using some sort of Web defense or attack? Either way, looks like someone using monster abilities to me.

The blueish armor kinda gives it away too.

i hope you need like a lvl 60 job to unlock it >.>

I'm curious how they're planning to implement Blue Mage exactly. Obviously they'll need to change the concept a little to make it work around the FFXI universe.

Originally, Blue Mage was a hybrid fighting mage, similar to Red Mage, except that instead of borrowing weaker Black and White magic, it hd it's own hybrid of magic, Blue. In order to learn a Blue Magic (and not every ability could be learned) spell, you had to be hit by the spell/ability and then survive the battle, which wasn't all that easy if you were trying to learn moves like Death, Explode, Lv5 Petrify, etc, lol.

If they made it so simply being hit by a monster ability would cause you to learn it, then you could get every ability in the game by level 10. SO they're going to have to make it a bit more involved, maybe BCNM's vs. the monster type you're trying to learn from, i dont know.

Job Abilities? Blue Mage had the "Scan" ability, which allowed you to see the monsters stats, HP, MP, STR/DEX/AGI/etc, weaknesses. That would be an awesome ability, but probably only useful once, and then the stats would be all over the internet and there'd be no need for it...

Can't imagine what their 2 hour ability would be either.

i think having a seperate quest to complete to learn each new ability would be cool. or maybe kill a certain NM to learn an ability, which you have to do it as a solo blue mage. that way you can't learn really powerful stuff at a low lvl. i dunno, just bored and thinking of stuff and i dont feel like going to sleep. no idea what kind of 2hour ability would work though.

What will bluemage's abbreviation be though? BLM is taken....We're gonna have a shitload of lvl1 BUMs everywhere once this job's quest if found out, aren't we? Dirty fucking BUMs infesting the streets of vana'diel.

hmmm, it looks like it might be a point system time thing. like you can only use a ability so many times till it has to recharge or you need to relearn it again.

or maybe you can counter the attacks like you can inturupt the ability and use it for yourself.

but i have no idea how any of this would work...hope SE does a good job with it and make the quest like questable at lvl 60 or need to complete some part in CoP or something so that not every lvl 30 player can have it asap

LMAO that would be funny if that was use as "BUM" bum the gils, bum the armors, bum the teles, bum the ladys, bum the streets. but it would be sad to see too many blue mage.

I don't care about Blue Mage right at this moment....I wanna know If we can get on that giant ass pirate ship.

BLU.....so......OBVIOUS...wow. That'll more then likely be it.
I honestly never even thought about that one...Too busy thinking of mocking all the BUMs...
I'm not too interested in obtaining the job either, but still...I must admit that my interest has been captured as far as how this will be played.
