what would be the order of job strength in ballista? its been a while since i played, but i was thinking something like

mnk, blm, rdm, rng, drg, drk, sam, thf, nin, bst, whm, war, smn, pld, brd

(2hr not counting of course)

although if it were just one-on-one elimination competition, rdm or blm at the top. depends on if subjobs are allowed since stun is nice. what do you guys think?

Also Depends on the Cap. Sam vs Drk could prolly kill the drk since at that cap he has Gekko which silences and If drk is dumb enough to soul eater ect befoe WS i can easy THid eye his WS. But again depends on Cap and if the person playing it.

blm vs any job besides blm or rdm the blm would come out on top, if they are smart. In an endurance match, the blm would likely die as many times as he killed the opponent.

blm vs rdm (or another blm) is just a test to see who can Sleep the other first.

they should just make it so that you can't sleep in ballista.. no sleep bolts, no sleep spells.. then we'd see what's really up

Yeah, let's take out everyone elses good stuff too. What does that leave a blm in ballista? Even the nerfed sleep is still better than no sleep, trust me.

I decided to edit out the last line. It was funny but out of touch with what the thread was really about so I'm not gonna be responsible for derailing.

I love that people complain about sleep in ballista when crowd control via sleep is a viable tactic end game used on mobs and a big part of FFXI. Now they nerf BRD lullaby which is really funny because that is really Bard's most viable tool in ballista to setup BLMs for big nukes (you can't interrupt lullaby unless you sleep, silence or stun the BRD).

BRD isn't that bad in ballista if they have their melee stats capped (I still haven't done that b/c I am usually doing something more productive than skill up). A BRD with dmg reduction equip that uses elegy and dispels effectively can do pretty well if he has joyeuse and sword skill capped. Still BRD is pretty damn weak in ballista and just got weaker because people are whiney fags who complain about getting slept then nuked then reslept, nuked, slept etc. Yeah its cheap but it is a part of the game.

hrmm... well, i never even fought in 1 ballista match i don't have the license, so i'm not crying about it, actually the only jobs i have lvled are mage jobs so sleep would be a good thing for me too. I'm not saying it's "unfair" and should get nerfed or anything.. I just would like to see what would happen if they took sleep out of ballista, because everyone i know who loves ballista and does it all the time is always bitching about how cheap sleep is.. i'd just like to see a match where people couldn't rely on it and how creative mages would have to be to land their nukes and shit

there is a Way around sleep. Psn pots and u don't even need to buy them u can dig them up np. brd have nothing but semi cureing and buffing up (btw when brd changes flute/ instruments they get pentalized and binded) they have low D and get picked on by ll those mnks who think they are cool b/c they can auto attack and WS when they bar hit 100% tp wow a Retard infant can pull that off. so if u wanna die and have people saying you suck and they are the all might please go brd in ballista with all these sleep nerfs.

what about poisona > sleep? lol or can you use that /noassist thing? Also, I didn't know you got penalized for swapping instruments, is there rules against not swapping out gear? I could see smn being a real pain in the ass in barista if that's the case (not like it's not already from what I've heard)

You cannot change equipment at all during ballista normally. You will get bound and penalized... and brd change instruments and normally a staff on almost every song they sing lol. I just bazaar all my instruments and staffs for max gil and use my harp and earth staff. This makes sure my macros can't change my equip and get me penalized.

You do get pentalized for changeing instruments but since it's on Range wep slot you get screwed for it where a Rng can Change Arrow type without getting pentalized since that arrows are in Ammo slot.

I don't think you can cast poisona on the opposite team. It just gives you a "cannot attack that target" error message.

RDM/NIN is good, if the player isnt a dumbass

PLD/RDM takes 0 damage for a looooooong time if you don't dispell em

BLM/RDM is good i've seen volrath rule ballista with this

but i've also seen whm's beat down war's and mnk's

basicly any job that has a low to decent delay weapon can be the strongest imo all depends on player skill and gear (cept blm they hax)

your still just upset because i owned you in ballista that one time. 1vs1

i only managed to kill a monk once, forgot who. i did gravity > banish3 > holy > banishga2 > banish 2 > banish 3 etc.

Its hard to make an order because it depends alot whos playing each job.
But in general MNK/WAR and WAR/MNK (ridill) are the best pvp melees.

how is HP boost, vit, and dodge better that Uts:Ni/Ichi and dual weild? not that i play war anymore, just curious
