SMN could sub RDM and so could BRD however in general both should use WHM for healing status effects.
also RDM can sub NIN for soloing too

help me out with this. I just want to make a list of standard subjobs. Help me revise it if needed. WARRIOR Monk Ninja Thief Samurai MONK Warrior Samurai WHITE MAGE Black Mage Summoner BLACK MAGE White Mage Summoner Red Mage RED MAGE White Mage Black Mage Dark Knight (HNM fights) Ninja (Solo, Quests, Avatars etc.) Thief Warrior Ninja Paladin Warrior Ninja (farming/small NM) DARK KNIGHT Warrior Thief Samurai BEASTMASTER White mage Warrior (for parties) Ninja RANGER Ninja Warrior Samurai (for HNM/Quest cases) BARD White Mage SUMMONER White Mage SAMURAI Warrior Thief Ranger (Solo, quest) NINJA Warrior Thief DRAGOON Warrior Samurai White mage (soloing) Red Mage (Certian Situations, not normal sub) Thief (for lower levels is fine) |

It is possible for DRG to sj rdm as well for certain fights. As for pld, I really don't see the possibility of using nin other than duo/solo farming/NM camping (phantom worm etc). HNM fights if you need pld to be there to tank/kite, provoke is a must. Some jobs also pretty much limit to certain sj after certain lvl. i.e. drk normally would have thf after lvl 60 and war normally would have nin and thf normally would have nin as well. Nin is kinda of like pld only gets to have war, it's very rarely to see them with thf sj at high lvls. |

but you CAN use Pld/Nin. I mean you have nin leveled for a reason right? You think I should take Pld/Nin off the list? and add Drg/Rdm? I've never seen a Drg/Rdm |

PLD/NIN is more for farming than for anything. I had the thought of using it to tank certain HNM, but it really won't work unless it's sorry NM like steelfleece, OSE etc. It is super when using the combo to fight those but the real HNM, it's X unfortunately. You can keep it though but if you are going to use the info on some msg board, probably want to make sure note it only for farming/small NM so newbies won't be mislead. As for DRG/RDM, I know one /point Itto. Any healer jobs are suitable for DRG in certain situations (fafnir fight etc) imo. Solo farming with a mage job helps with downtime. |

Yeah smn/blm and blm/smn sucks. But some people do, personally I didn't see any until recently when I start leveling my mage jobs and party member told me about their choices. It's sort of funny, cuz we were looking for replacement for me and there was a smn/blm. PT member said how about that smn/blm? I said no, it's gimp to have blm as smn sj. Pt member said, "I play smn/blm as main". I was like oh, well, it still doesn't make sense since smn is meant to be back up healers in current setting :P |

Add ninja to the RDM list of standard subs. Horrible XP party subjob, awesome for questing/soloing or certain tanking situations (avatars). |

Could also add ranger to the list of samurai subs. IMO I think sam/rng is more common than rng/sam. |

omg you forgot about: war/whm (ghetto pld) mnk/rdm (en- spells omgomgomg sexual) blm/nin (cuz dual wield stat weapons is way better than a useful SJ) sam/bst (cuz um... i dont have a reason for this one) and make sure you SJ's are way under lv'd too |
