Less than a month left and information is finally starting to come in.

This expansion looks to be a lot better than CoP, however most everything square does looks awesome on paper.

So lets get some feedback. Rate on the poll and then post why here.

I would say that I'm 3 out of 10.

Why three? Well this game is flawed at its very core. I wish S-E would take a look at the very core design of this game and fix it. They need to rebuild the basics and then worry about expansions. DAoC had a majore overhaul in the RvR area and I think it would be nice to see FFXI do the same.

This game is old and unlike other MMGs, this one wont update itself. DAoC did 3d engin upgrades during expansions. WoW even offeres new effects and upgrades to the 3d engine with its next upgrade. SWG isnt just upgrading the effects. They are basically re-writing everything and even eliminating big chunks of the game.

The problem with this game is that there is so very little end game armor. the only good end game armor is the same armor people have been using for like 2 years.

If a new better set of armor was introduced how many people would still kill kings? If a new better set of armor was put on the Sea gods how many people would be in Sea after the patch?

S-E could totally fix FFXI if they just made other options for end game armor. The problem is that SE is Japanese and the idea of adding new armor that is better than all current armor in every way is apparently bad

So anyway, you can add new zones, jobs and things like that, but the same problems are going to exsist.

I gave it a 5 as the information and screens/videos they've released so far aren't enough to really convince me whether it's going to totally suck or be awesome. The new jobs and beseiged look like they're going to be fun, but it looks a little light on storyine so far... we'll see. I'm excited, but I have my doubts..

It'll probably be fun for the most part, or at least a refreshing change of pace, however, my interest with ToA is marginal considering its still the same FFXI I've been playing all along with more distractions.

I'm curious about the changes to the jobs though. It'll be interested to see how they overhaul the exsisting job classes.

I dont expect much of a change considering to the current jobs. Would be nice to see a new level of spells. Holy II would be fun and stuff like that I could see happening. The problem is, how long will this be fun for? I mean its like when WHM got Banish III. Sure its a new spell, but it was fun for what, 20 minutes?

The new jobs could be interesting but its still going to be a grind fest to get it to 75. On top of that everyone is going to want to level new jobs.

The dunes are gonna be full of crap jobs. People are going to LFG for even longs on new and old jobs. People trying to hit 75 are going to have a hard time leveling cause all the level 75s are going to skip merit xp and level one of the new jobs.

I just don't see the expansion adding any long term life into this game. This is judging from the past.

At this stage of the game I have no interest in the expansion and probably will close my account before next month

They are supposedly adding new songs, spells, abilities etc through merits. I doubt they will stop merit pts with the new jobs totally, but the new jobs will defnitely crowd some xp spots, unless the new areas have xp spots that are decent. XP from quests basically = ENMs and some escort quests. New mob types and rewards from Assault are interesting. Well the whole Beseiged thing where the monsters take away the treasure and you have to get it back via Assault. The new town will be beastmen raidable and there will be no xp loss in Beseiged. The new Troll zone where Cerberus is looks cool.

Really since Sony released that copyright software, they fucked WoW badly in the long run. That shit lets hackers bypass the Warden, which was WoWs way of detecting hacking. Goldsellers hack Dire Maul on some servers lol. They do more hacking than is possible in FFXI, due to WoW having alot more client side info. FFXI is just movement side hacks due to that being the only thing really that is client side that effects the game majorly. There are reports of telehacking and duping in WoW, pretty sure there is alot more to be hacked in that game.

The difference though eternus is the mindset of the players.

Players in WoW dont feel like they have to cheat or hack to have fun. In FFXI people do. Cheating is so bad in FFXI that people think the only thing to do now is to join them.

Not to mention that WoW has weekly patches to fix hacks. Weekly not every 3 months, every week.

Yeah, but at least in WoW it is possible to reach endgame in less than two weeks, so you don't feel as cheated if someone else in the game F's you over for some kewl lewts because they hack. lol

Yeah for the most part the only people at this stage in the game of WoW that cheat are goldsellers. Blizzard just like SE are really fighting a losing battle with hackers it seems. Unless Blizz can get a keylogger past that software Sony released, WoW inevitably will be hacked badly. Yarr, the WoW userbase is full of obnoxious teenagers and retards. Seriously it is going to become World of Diablo wait and see. Hacked to fuck full of griefing retards. Sure at least Blizzard bans people, but a Mage can level to 60 in less than a month in WoW. Can get right back into the griefing/hacking pretty fast after being banned.

I see very little hope for WoW as being hack free. No the WoW community does not give a shit, they just do not have access to the hacks the goldsellers have or it is just more secretive. People hack BWL.. that is the hardest instance in the game supposedly. Guy admitted his guild hacked Nefarion on BG boards basically lol. Cmon thats bullshit and you know it. That is no different than FFXI, but you can do more hacking than movement supposedly. I have less faith in the WoW community than FFXI honestly. Really naive to think that it will not spread more now in instances, since the only deterrent to hacking has been permanently bypassed.

Here's the difference. If someone doest hack in WoW he doesnt have to worry about someone who is hacking coming and claiming his Nidhogg every week for years on end.

WoW is instance based, so people can just hack all they like and pimp out their character and then what? It does hurt on PvP sever. Same reason hacks hurt in PvP in DAoC. Twinked Characters and radar hacks.

Still, hacking in WoW wont hurt the game to the same degree that hacking in FFXI will.

Nah there are dragons that a guild can control. Azuregos is one of them. Those are not instanced at all. If someone were to straight up hack there, then it would be a GM call and they would be banned. The fact is that there are automated programs for WoW, so people could claim bot Azuregos and monopolize it over others. Well assuming they could hold off the people PvPing them, since Azuregos is in a contested zone.

No the problem with WoW is that there is nothing stopping no skill retards from hacking their way to full epic now that Sony released that software. They can have the best gear in the game and hack the fights to get it. Most players will not resort to these means, but in the end this means that everyone will have that shit. That makes epic gear less special once everyone and their mother has that shit. It is like seeing gilsellers kill DL, Kirin, Vrtra, Tiamat, Bahamut 2nd BC, KS99 BCs, etc and farming it. Thats bullshit, and that is what WoW has happening in its future.

I wouldnt give credit to SoE. Hackers always find a away.

Besides I'm sure Bliz can find a away around the kit that Sony dumped.

regardless, Bliz at this point has shown a much stronger aggresion towards cheaters.

The thing about the expansion I really want to know is, if it's aimed at primarly end-game players like is stated somewhere... is it going to offer ways to obtain better loot than you get from mobs currently in game?

Is Sky suddenly going to be empty except for rmt while everyone gets hot shit from beseiged or whatever? Will anything be released that beats what you can get from kings?

Doubt it very much. Same with new spells too, Banish III only seems to be used in krt parties against the lemures. I've been playing black mage too long to imagine how they could change they job besides adding even more high damge-high mp spells.

Am I excited by it? Yes.
Do I expect it to change the game radically to the point I won't still do a lot of things the same? No.

I think im on the same page as Mandos except Im just not that excited.

When all is said and one the game wont change too much. theres just gonna be some more stuff to do to kill time. The day to day game life will probably stay the same.

There is no such thing as a hack-free MMO and I doubt there every will be. Now I can't comment on the condition of FFXI as I never reached the end game (hell, I doubt more than a couple people here even know who the hell I am), but I do feel I'm a little qualified to comment on WoW. Right now, the biggest area of shady business on my server is the contingent of hunters that solo farm Dire Maul (an end game 5 man instance – probably the best place to obtain pre-epic quality gear). Now since probably 99% of the desired loot in WoW is either Bind on Pickup of crafted, the only things of value to sell are the rare drop books that you can get for the bosses (these compose of books to turn in to get a decent trinket, books used to obtain powerful enchants for your gear, or an epic book that opens a quest line to get one of the better tanking swords in the game). What is the result of this? Massive undercutting among the farmers that has reduced the price of class books from ~50g to 3-4g each. Also, the epic book has gone from 3-4k to 800-1000g. Considering farming these books is not a reliable way to generate income for someone not “on the job” or hacking I really don’t see that big of a negative effect here.

The more blatant hacking that I’ve seen in my time in WoW are the teleport miners, teleport egg turn-ins, speed hackers in WSG, and misc crap like purge bots. The teleport miners were level 5 characters (minimum level require to learn mining) that used teleport hacks to instantaneously go from valuable node to valuable node staying underground to avoid high level mob agro. This went on for a couple weeks and I have yet to see am of these miners back in the game. A similar thing happened with this quest that you went and found eggs and turned them in for cash. Once again the offenders have disappeared and the quest itself has been disabled. As far as the PvP hacks I’ve found Blizzard to be much more aggressive than Mythic was in DAoC. Almost every “notorious” offender is now on his second character (unlike Mythic where blatant radar users lasted for years if they ever got caught at all).

As far as epic instanced content goes, I really would love to hear how these legions of fucktards are going to hack themselves up some epic quality gear. Outside of using god hacks or one-shot-kill hacks (which I’m not even sure exist – lord knows I’ve never seen them) I really don’t see how hackers are going to somehow beat the encounters. Considering a lot of people got suspended for something as trivial as instance cascading I really don’t see the potential for a lot of hacking for high end encounters. Now that’s not to say that guild don’t do crap like LoS exploits or take advantage of bugs in the terrain but that requires no external program to do.

Bliz really thought things out ahead of time and they are very quick to make a correction to something they missed. My only MMORPG other than FFXI was DAoC and Mythrandir said it right. There were people who loved to use radar but that really didnt hurt as much as the hacks in FFXI do.

Because of the hacks in FFXI, people lose a ton of time invested.

anything that changes the way ff is played is welcome. I kinda do wish they would have made sea much like sky. But whatever lol. Maybe they'll add another zone like underground or something. Or maybe space?

i was just thinking, if people hack/cheat/whatever to become superior to other players, i'm against that. but if people hack/cheat/whatever to make up for square enix's design flaws, i'm not so against that. but where you draw that line is hard to tell, and hard to control.

back to the topic, i have no interest in ff anymore. i dont care what the expansion is. i do still enjoy listening to ff music. i got all 3 official game soundtracks. i think toycup.com was the website that had them for cheap. only thing that would hold me to the game was my friends, and they have almost all left the game. school irl is enough to keep my mind active. we had some fun times though didnt we?

Right but using a claim bot to claim fafnir doesnt fix a flaw in squares came. Being able to use a hack to spawn a fafnir for everyone would fix the flaw. Using a hack to beat everyone else (even if everyone is using a bot too) doesnt fix a flaw in the game design.

Bots only help greedy people get their gear first because they feel that their time is more important than everyone elses and that they should get the mob before everyone else.

lol I remember in DAoC once when someone on the EU Servers got a hold of a GM account and client. They were able to spawn the toughest mobs in the game anywhere and in any volume. there were dragons wondering around the spawning areas for the major PVP zones.

lol it was great. Imagine in FFXI if 4 Nids popped. People would be so bloody happy not mad lol.
