Is it just me or is FFXI a big disapointment to everybody, you work hard in this game and really you get nothing in return for your hard work, you see old friends bicker about stupid shit that doesn't even matter, the only ppl that really benifit from this game or get that dream piece of equipment that everybody wants is a very small group, i'am a PLD so I look up to those that have that kinda stuff and i could probably count on 1 hand how many NA/EU players that have a Koeinig body and on 2 hands that have AF2 body the most sought after pieces for any PLD.

I just heard that Valour got 2x PLD AF bodys on one of their recent raids and congrats to them, but ppl in my ls were quite upset about this why? idk maybe because I guess they can't be happy for others accomplisments which makes me more upset.

Idk were im going with this post and I guess it doesn't really matter. So i'll end the blabbering here.

Is your name Cooner in game? I don't remember anyone with that name :?

I agree with what you said about this game not rewarding people enough. Actually, that's why so many people are unhappy with it and how 90% of drama are started in game. SE seem to think we would quit faster if we were getting our gear, but it's retarded, people are quitting for the opposite reason and because of the tensions created by the lack of reward. It wouldnt be hard to reward players more often, and just implement more goodies every patch. But instead, they prefer to add content no one care about

About Valour getting 2 drop, people are mad because getting the drop is luck ;p, not an "accomplishment" . Every HNM shell usually invest a lot of time in king camp, and when someone else get a lucky drop like koenigx2, it's not surprising react like that since they will most likely never see something like that. Kinda like how you would be jealous of your neibourgh if he wins 20 millions $ in real life when you deserve it as much.

There is maybe 6-7 NA Koenig and a little more PLD AF2. If you join an HNM or dynamis LS, there is a good chance you will end up with one of them or both in the next years and half...but do you seriously want to play for so long for 2 pieces of gear that will barely change anything to the way you play the game?

I guess it's easy for me to say that since I've E.body already, but when I look back at it, I don't think it worth the trouble. Make sure you have more objective than abj and AF2 or the game will soon become boring.

Eh I've seen people get annoyed when another linkshell gets lucky with something like that, hell even just when one person does. To me it's stupid to be jealous. One day that luck will be on us too.

I remember many times when blm af2 drops, the half-pint alliance just falls silent for the rest of the raid while people seeth over not winning it. Last-week the petasos dropped, someone won with 480 lot; I saw one of my best friend lose by 20 points but he still said grats. Probability would suggest if I lotted it I had a good chance to win, but I'm quite new to the group compared to the guy that won and don't mind not lotting it. He is now 6/6 blm af2 and I'm happy for him.

One day when I quit I might remember that moment when he won full blm af2 but I won't be angry because it wasn't me, just glad that I was there to see it and was able to help, however small my contribution (I was dead when it dropped so pretty small lol)

Seeing whm's in our linkshell get shining cloth for their tunic makes me happy too, coz I remember how happy I was to get mine and hopefully they won't be as stupid as me with theirs.

So in short, I'm not disappointed with FF11 at all, whenever I play I have fun and I have thousands0 of good memories from this game and the time I've put in which far outweigh the bad ones.

It's a big disappointment if you play for the wrong reasons. If you set retarded goals for yourself like being in full Koenig or Adaman set, you will be in for a huge let down. Dynamis AF2 pieces are not that difficult to obtain if you remain dedicated and go do Dynamis every chance you get.

You sound like your goal in this game is to just obtain items for one job and that's probably the problem. Nothing in this game is fair when it comes to loot; people who work the hardest don't necessarily get the rarest gear.

As for Valour, I'm glad they got those PLD AF2 body pieces. They came to many CKD Xarcabard raids and passed a PLD AF2 body for one of our members at the time. I'm guessing their good deed paid off.

Yup, I agee, Valour is a good group of people too. I have no idea who hacks and what not but on a personal level ive never had a problem with em.

I have a lot of gear! Loot whore irl. :P

But I like to think I actually put a hell of a lot of work into it. So when people get "lucky" it's kinda like "Bleh, why should someone get what I have/don't have without putting in half as much work as I did?"

That's not to say someone else doesn't deserve something. They probably put a lot of work in too, in their own ways possibly. But at the end of the day it's luck of the draw and there's not a whole lot you can do about it.

I still remember that the first guy in full PLD AF2 was actually someone who didn't even play PLD and had no other gear for it, lol. Remember checking him in Port Jeuno wearing his Moldavite Earring and Elemental Torque, lol. That's the kind of dumb luck I'd imagine puts most people off their goals.

That's how it is, things are random. You could kill Nidhogg once a week for 2 years and never even see 1 M body, now that's an incdredibly low chance, but still possible. Or you can kill him twice in 3 months and see 3 M body. Same for dynamis af2, Valour got these 2 Coats but the thing may never drop again for us lol. Who outside of Valour even knew I had pld leveled before I got my cuirass? Only Cad, Metal, and Clio from VC.

but by sticking with every camp, giving time to ls, and getting a touch of retardstrength luck, an m body came my way.

If you play for loot you will be disappointed and eventually become bitter and disgruntled, plain and simple.

FFXI makes no attempt to be fair about loot, to ensure that loot is easy to get, or to even introduce new loot so that the people who have been camping the same loot for years can move on to something bigger and better.

To anyone who tells you different, they are setting you up for dissapointment. For every 1 person who tells you that something is easy to get, I guarentee that there are people who have been working hard at getting that very something for over a year and still don't have it.

I've seen way too many people start feeling like they MUST have something, and deserve to have something, and let it ruin their enjoyment of other aspects of the game when they don't obtain it.

It's best just to accept that you will never have everything you want, and to try and find a group of people that you enjoy playing with. Although the game design makes it hard to accomplish personal loot goals, accomplishing a goal where someone in the group will benefit from whatever you are doing is very attainable if you've got a nice group of people to do it with.

Well yea chana's right. If you center the game around nothing for loot for yourself. You are going to run into problems. If you play with friends, and create mutual goals. Then yes it can be fun. The tedious time consuming moments is annoying though. But other then that it fun.

anyone ever notice PLD has taken DRG's spot as being the most emo job. I swear all i hear about from PLD is m.abj body and af2 body. Like these things will magically make PLD be used for everything and anything over a ninja. it's bad enough we have to listen to them cry about it all the time in game, but now we have to watch the threads start up about it again?

Well m bdy is really important to a PLD from what I understand. AF2 body after you get Koenig is just cover macro gear haha. Some LSs use PLD exclusively and do not use NIN. Hell there has been a recent trend of PLD/NIN going on.... just do not see it done successfully yet on this server alot.

Yeah it is lame since they get the gear that looks the coolest and has the most effect on their performance, yet they are constantly pushed aside by NIN tanks. So PLD sits on the sidelines in many LSs and watches NIN do the job that PLD should be doing lol. Yeah as a WHM you are main healer, but RDM can replace a WHM in some instances if not most. SE is going to buff PLD for the expansion from what I read. Should be interesting to see how they change the job. As far as gear goes, there are plenty of people playing PLD and that want a chance at the rare M Bdy or AF2, so be prepared to wait haha.
