I am 20 hours in now and just finished the Dreadnaught Leviathan part. I've spent a lot of time farming, leveling, fucking with Quickenings, and Gambits. I have a great understanding of Quickenings and Gambits now. I owned that Judge guy on Dreadnaught Leviathan with an 11 hit combo from tier 2 Quickenings in 1 hit lol. I can see those helping a lot later in the game on harder bosses. Maybe use the quickening, deplete your party's MP, then swap to your other party and finish the fight...I dunno.

I feel it's hard to develop characters at this point. I was gaining lots of LP that I couldn't really use for what I wanted. Some of my characters have a lot of stuff unlocked they can't use yet (like spells and technicks). I just started using LP on opening paths to Quickenings lol. The extra MP is awesome. I also have lots of gils with nothing to spend it on. I need to proceed further into the game!

And yes FFXI did teach us to farm for hours and hours and hours lol. This is so much more fun than fighting shit in FFXI. I don't get as bored on this. I just change my gambits around often to change my fighting style, which keeps me interested.

I did exactly that against the first Demon Wall, Second, and Vossler. I owned them in about 1-2 quickenings each...

Then I felt disgusted that it was possible and redid them without quickenings... (Ok, not the first wall, lol.)

FFXII feels so much like Vagrant Story. I'm surprised Vaan isn't wearing assless chaps.

lol whisp. Spam R2 until you see a button icon come up beside the name of a character int he lower right corner, then hit that button. Itll do his move, then you gotta do it again.

Just fought this optional boss Hell Wyrm, fight took (around) 2 effing hours.

Wyrm is so big it doesn't fit in the screen at all, and it has these rings that screw up the camera. Very cool fight but no reward. lol

I had a hard time with this for a while. Look at the 3 names on the bottom of the screen. A button will appear next to one or more of them. For me it seems to always be Triangle for top, Square for middle, and X for bottom. If you see a button next to somebodys name, spam it till it starts their Quickening. Then just do that over and over and over to combo. Quickenings involve some luck. It's like a slot machine almost. Sometimes you will see nobody has a button next to their name. In that case you have to hit R2 and it will re sort, possibly giving somebody a button next to their name.

My max combo is still only 11. I 1 shotted Garuda last night lol. I need to stop using those for boss fights.

Sometimes the button says "Mist Charge" for a character and that gives them another mist charge to use. I only used a quickening once in a fight and that was against gilgamesh's fucking dog in the second battle. It was down at like 5% hp and started dodging all my attacks, this was after like 20 minutes of whittling it down while gil beat the crap out of us on the side.

Meh quickenings rapidly lose their ability to 1 shot things as you progress.

By far my least Favorite ability is Paling. One hunt for the "Trickster" has the mob use paling at about 20% life so he's immune to physical attacks for almost 2 minutes, and he already absorbs all elemental damage, and then he spams this choco meteor for 1800 dmg to the entire party... Glad to see its just as retardedly annoying in this game as it was in tactics.

And its not like you can even run away a bit for some breathing room because if you do he heals like 20%

Whisp...

More than one character needs a Quickening available for it to work right. I was confused when I first did it, too (after I read the guide's explanation) and then I got a couple more people quickenings, and now I understand what the guide meant.

And Mikey, I haven't got there yet but it sounds fun. Dead, play on active, omg go through it again like that! The one person battles are easy, but it's when you get multiple things on you that I start freaking out and messing up. :p

So... why not just have everyone attack one... kill it... then another... With really good Curing and Potion gambits?
