This is really aimed towards people living in USA. I know Canada and Yurop don't celebrate it.

Does your state celebrate Cinco De Mayo? They make a pretty big deal out of it here because we have so many Mexicans haha. For me it's just another drinking holiday like St Patrick's Day. What's funny I've been in Mexico several times during Cinco De Mayo (going tomorrow morning actually) and it's not really celebrated. I wonder if AZ is like....the only state that actually celebrates it lol.

We don't "celebrate" it in Jersey but our Mexican restaurants go apeshit over it. Dime beers, mariachi bands and other assorted crap. This place by me called Bandito's had a big bash last year but I wasn't officially old enough to drink (by 12 days) so I didn't bother to attend, drank alone at home. lol

There is a good amount of people who celebrate it here. Really just another excuse for people to get drunk imo. Which is of course fine by me.

It was rather quiet in downtown Chicago today. I was stuck in Greek town though.

that's cuz it's only tres de mayo computer... give it a couple days lol and here in ny is pretty much what you described klu: a reason to get drunk but instead of killian's and guiness it's corona and dos equis. My friend's name happens to be Maio (pronounced like my-oh as in cinco de mayo) so we always celebrate it by throwing a stupid little party and i wind up passed out under a sombrero at somepoint. good times

i'll be celebrating cinco de mayo by watching oscar de la hoya beat up floyd mayweather on my bro's 52" HD flat screen tv with my whole family together for the first time since 2002.

may5 is a fairly big deal in atlanta, considering our burgeoning mexican/latino population

Ive heard about this day before, but its not something we do in canada at all. If I had never read about it on the internet I would have no clue what it was.

Besides, it sounds mexican, what a waste of time that would be.

It seems that Cinco De Mayo is to the Tequila industry as Christmas is to Macy's...

I was in Chihuahua for a wedding. We flew to El Paso and crossed, so crossing the border took like 5 minutes tops.

And I'm sure Ponuh is right

I don't think I had a shot of Tequila or a Mexican beer the entire weekend. I did get really fucked up all weekend, but that was more of my brother being home from FSU and nothing to do with it being a holiday weekend. Tequila makers and Corona profit the most out of Cinco De Mayo obviously. Hallmark cleans up on Fathers and Mothers day, retail stores make most of their profit on Christmas, etc. Holidays are only good when I get the day off from work.

Forgot about Valentine's day lol. Same shit really as its yet another Hallmark holiday. All those white people went to Mexico to get drunk and check out the donkey show. We can assume they weren't going there looking for high paying jobs.

Am I the only one who though DL was a 30 year old man?

I mean, I am honestly stunned I'm older than him. I was always creeped out when he hit on me cause I thought he was an old perverted man.

jk Dl<3<3 (But seriously, I thought you were older.)

EDIT: yes, that's all i really got out of this topic. cinco de mayo, beers, mexicans, got it.
