Shiat!! Maybe it's just because I'm so outta shape, or maybe it's because my buddy and I stayed up till 3am getting drunk off Seagrams only to wake up at 6am to Summit the tallest peak in AZ and only having a granola bar for breakfast. Or maybe the hike really is just a bitch... but we hiked it this morning.

4.5mile hike up. 3-4000ft ascent. Windy, rainy, shitty.

The hike was a super bitch, my buddy that was with me was having a really hard time, and I was too, couldn't catch my breath at all. Towards the top it got really steep and really hard to keep my muscles going. It's not the hardest hike in the world, there were a couple of other hikers on the trail that we saw, but it took us about 3 hours to get to the top, and about 2 to get down. Not being used to the altitude sucks balls.

Since the peak is really the only mountain around, you can see forever. You can see the Grand Canyon, the California border, Meteor Crater, it's fucking nuts. Anyways, like I said it's not a terribly hard hike. Most people can get up there, it's just really strenuous, and it'll take longer if you're not fit. and we didn't bring enough water (1 Nalgene each) so I was really worried about altitude sickness. I think i did alright.

Anyways, just thought I'd share. I'm really fucking dead today. Next stop.... everest.

altitude sickness is an incredibly serious problem. Youre not really going to experiance any real altitude sickness on a mountain like that, ive read more than enough books on mountain climbing to know that lol.

My top ten list of things to do before I die is hike to the base camp of everest. At 6500 meters its a pretty serious hike on its own. Plus its an amazing place to be.

A few weeks ago my brother woke me up asking for a game of whiffle ball (he's 23 I'm 22) and I said I didn't feel like it, but he persisted.

So there I was, just out of bed, in 90+ degree heat, with no wind in the air, no breakfast in mah tummeh, and not a drop of water in me. After 30 minutes in the scorching heat and flashbulb explosion sun on that stark and empty field, I went blind and threw up (some random stomach fluid, as I had no food or drink in me).

I have not been outside since. Just thinking about this hiking makes me sick. lol

Yeah I was reading some shit on Mount Everest. There you can get real sick. There are also some people who have gotten mild Altitude Sickness on the mountain I climbed. People that just don't bring enough water/are out of shape can get serious headaches and black out. Nothing life threatening, it just means you need to turn around.

But your right.... if you get up high enough.... there's some shit you can experience that is NOT pleasant.

I hear that's awesome. The hike down apparently isn't amazing, but once you get near the waterfalls it's supposed to be absolutely awesome. My g/f has done it, and I just asked her and she said she'd be down. I'm all for it, lets set up a time.

Yeah Denchi Im thinking more of HACE and HAPE. Stuff that comes up when climbing really huge mountains. It can happen to anyone in shape or not. I think the altitude sickness people get on the mountain you did is similar to sea sickness. Not that its like sea sickness, but that only some people get it while others dont. With no real reason for why.

I think. Im no expert lol. I just read a few novels (survival stories) on people who climbed everest and other mountains.

Yeah I was with my buddy who's read some everest stories so he was keeping me entertained with his stories lol. I really wanna read the book Bear Grylls wrote. He's my idol.

It is rather crazy that some people just don't deal with altitude well in general. Some people plan for Everest for years and once they get up there they realize they can't summit because they get too sick. I hear of one guy who ascended everest too quickly and the capillaries in his lungs burst and he drowned in his own blood. Some of the stories from up there are just insane.

Because there's a good chance you'll die summiting, and it's something you have to work up to for 2+ years. Base camp is still a very hard climb, but not nearly as dangerous.

Base camp is also a 10+ day hike, so maybe 20 days up and back? you need to spend sometimes 3 1/2 months on everest if you wanna summit.
