With the semester starting again in a few weeks, I've been looking for a small lightweight laptop to use around campus (fuck public computers) and for various hotspot locations. I've been leaning towards a Macbook, since it's fairly small and I wouldn't be tempted to load it up with crap. However, I'd probably prefer something cheaper that got the job done just as well. I've also been looking at this:

Since most people on these forums know more about computers and laptops than I do, I figured I'd toss this post up to see if anyone could offer me some constructive advice in my purchase.

Whatever you buy, I'd try to get one without Vista if possible.

Crazy as it sounds but im actually going to agree with dmitry on this. What you picked it is a great choice, but I would downgrade the OS to xp myself. Considering how annoyingly taxing vista is right now on certain setups.

Vista isn't as good as i expected, although i have only used cheaper versions of it, i doubt i'll switch anytime soon.

i read somewhere that microsoft was mad that the computers at the olympics wouldn't be using vista, and they said "we need a stable OS" lol the athlete's will have computers to use in their free time, some sporting vista.

I have no problems with Vista either and I run it on PC. :P

My boss bought a Macbook pro recently and he loves it. He used to own a Toshiba, I guess he didn't like it that much because he just bought that one earlier this year.

I haven't looked at his Macbook tho so I couldn't say how good it is.
