ok... so i had to format my computer because my friend looked up too much freaking porn, little bastard.

I get it formatted and install wow, then i start installing ffxi. I get ffxi installed threw rise of the zilart, and i put my CoP disk in.

The CoP disk 1 gets to 30%, when i hear a loud ass pop. I open my CD drive (by force with a knife)...

My CoP disk had exploded... into tiny tiny pieces.... im gonna have to replace the disk and probably my cd drive, and no CoP for me for a bit since im broke atm :(

i'll post a pic later of all the pieces of my disk

your disk probably had a minor fracture in it somewhere...theres a utility availible from Nero that allows you to slow down your read speed but I can't think of it atm...it happenned to me once and yes, you will need to replace ur cd-rom drive...good thing they're cheap these days ^^

I had the same thing happen to me a month ago. Blew apart my CoP disk 1 and broke my cd drive.

wtf? That's really unnatural....... it requires a ton of power to shatter a CD.... there's probably a power flux somewhere. If you know how to check your PSU voltage rails you should.

Also happened to by brother a while ago, a cd of him exploded in the drive. Had to buy a new cd drive.

omfg! haha that SAME EXACT THING HAPPED TO MY FRIEND. it was the very night FFXI was being sold, we bought it, took it home and got to the last disk, we were playing DDR in his living room (he has the arcade machine) and we heared a loud ass pop, we went to go look and inside his dick drive was half of the CD. and the others are still deep inside his compy, we called SE and thay said that his drive is to old to handle and read some of the software(it can only spin so fast) SE said it caused his drive to over spin and the needle cit through the cd.

Omg, they had this on MythBusters...without horribly horribly moddifying your computer to the point where it can spin disks at unreasonable speeds, they said theres no way a computer disk drive can break a disk unless the disk was already faulty.
