I got a hard on from these pics. Also found a reason to live till next summer. Estimated 180 HP. On the fly engine management. Re-tuned intake / new dual exhaust

GSX-R1000 supersport machine, the biggest news was the engine management system on the GSX-R which has four times the computing power of the current machine, and in an industry first, it has a user-selectable engine mapping system with the rider able to change on-the-fly between three different power delivery curves. Suzuki suggests it is possible for a rider to use one map for one section of a racetrack then switch to another map for a different segment of the track. Each engine map was developed using experience gained building racebike maps for rainy, mixed and dry conditions, and the possibilities for making a race or road bike more suited to different types of conditions are obvious.

The K7 engine shares the same bore and stroke figures as the current 999cc 4-cylinder machine, but few details have been released as yet so it..s difficult to fully Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis the differences between models. It is known that the power has had a healthy boost but no figures have been mentioned. Both the intake and exhaust ports have been reshaped and are eight percent larger while the exhaust valves are now 26mm compared to the 24mm of the G6.

The Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) fuel injection system has also come in for a great deal of work, with 12 smaller holes (instead of four) offering better fuel atomisation, and the secondary injectors are now located at a steeper angle for improved response.

The ventilation holes between the cylinders that reduce pumping losses are now bigger at 48mm. A new reed-valve in the crankcase breather prevents pressure waves originating in the airbox from reaching the crankcase.

A new Idle Speed Control (ISC) system automatically regulates the volume of fresh air fed into the throttle body idle circuits, improving cold starting and stabilizing engine idle under various conditions.

Another nice touch is that the GSX-R's footpegs are now adjustable, and can be moved into three different positions in a 14mm horizontal and vertical range. The brake pedal, master cylinder and gear lever move with their respective assemblies.

The new GSX-R also has a completely new chassis engineered to improve mass centralization. The frame is engineered to deliver the optimum rigidity balance for precise handling at full lean. Constructed from five main aluminium alloy castings, the new frame has less parts and uses less welding for reduced weight. The lighter, more rigid aluminium alloy swingarm features a new rear shock mounting system with a link that pivots on the swingarm itself.

Interestingly, despite several areas where weight has been pruned, the bike is a full 14 pounds heavier than the current machine, tipping the scales at 379 pounds.

In my car I've had to slam on my brakes so many times because of idiot drivers, that I would be dead ten times over if I rode a motorcycle anywhere. I get the appeal, but I don't get the amount of risk involved.

My dad has an 05' ZX6. He takes it to some tracks in Georgia (i live in South florida so thats about a 5-6 hr drive) Im getting my license in a couple weeks and hes looking to buy a new bike. Hes oldschool so i think he wants to get something naked. The new GSX looks nasty though, as does the new zx-14 but you wouldnt really get much use out of it unless you plan on killing yourself or taking it to a track.

I'd much rather get an o5' cbr500. but thats just mytaste. My dad says they suck anyways lol. I dont know much about bikes though, theyre just pretty.

I know what you mean. Ive almost died a few hundred times on the highway.

Still, I had a friend who rode a bike. He was diagnosed with some terminal problem (he refused to tell anyone what it was) and no longer cared about taking some pretty serious risks.
He started riding his bike by himself all around the place. He was telling me how one day some other guys on bikes started riding along side with him. At first he thought he was going to get his ass kicked. Then at a stop light they all started talking to him and told him about all the places people go and meet up and talk about their bikes and all this stuff. Soon enough he found this whole subculture of people who ride around going insane speeds. I thought it was pretty cool and interesting. Im always drawn to things that have odd social networks. I thought it was cool, but I didnt and dont want to get a bike just for that.

What made me want a bike was all the awesome stories he had about riding around with his friends. About how he would go so fast on the highways it was like driving around in a parking lot. He was going so much faster than normal cars that they didnt even seem to move, he just kind of weaved in and around them.

I also enjoyed his stories about driving past cops going almost double the speed limit and how they wouldnt even flinch. The know very well they cant do anything to catch them (I dont live in Toronto, just near it, we dont have that kind of police force with choppers and shit).

I was only like 18 years old when he was telling me all the pretty awesome stories so they probably seemed much cooler at the time, but the stories stuck with me and ive always wanted to have a bike of my own.

Although I honestly dont really ever want to get one, I know for sure Id die lol. I just have that kind of luck.

It is little min sub culture. I will ride with people i dont even know and grab drinks/chat it up. In the summer over by Woodfield (biggest mall in the country i think) there are bike and car gangs almost every day. Sadly i can count on 1 hand the number of friends that have died in bikes in the past few years. Ill spare you all and not post pictures. Im for the most part safe. Country riding i prob wont wear a helmet. Anything in the city is a must. Bout 75% of the accidents in my area are prople making left turns in front of bikes. Other 25% is people not being able to judge the road conditions. All these bikes are made to be on a track and some people dont understand that.

As for a starter bike i would suggest the SV-650. Its not concidered a sports bike but it unreal how nice it is. Its also got more tq then a 4 cyl but it wont rev as high. If you like that sports look you can also order fairings. The price is also amazing and u can pick one up for a few grand.

TS, you live in Atlanta, anyone that lives around here knows that a motorcycle here is like russian roulette. Everytime I even see one on Interstate 285 I can't help but almost pray for them because of the danger involved. I get why a few people have them (people that attend Tech or State, certain hospitals, and use it to get around for parking purposes, or even those that drive their bikes out of the city up to North GA, etc. ) but when they start driving them around here as an only means of transportation I really question their IQ.

You kinda have to own a bike to answer the question of why. Im not going to say skydivers are stupid because, i dont know their mindset. I think everyone has some addiction to something. I could just as easily kill myself with drugs/alcohol/food/ffxi if i wanted. The feeling of freedom/speed/etc on a bike is just unmatched.

eh, I see this as a weak argument. Why the death wish? I guess it's the "I really feel most alive when confronting death" mentality, which a lot of people swear by, but I still don't get it.

Maybe Atlanta traffic has just made me jaded towards owning a motorcycle lol.

also I was just in a fender-bender last week with a guy who hit me from behind. I'm ok, but my car needs repairs. Had I been in a motorcycle, I'd probably have some broken bones, through no fault of my own.

definitely had a case of tight pants syndrome while looking at those pics.

I had a dirt bike my parents got for me when I was like 13 and riding a bike is a BLAST. Like a few people have said, you can't imagine what it feels like until you've personally gone riding and opened up the throttle on one yourself. It's exhilarating. If I had the money I think I'd get myself a street bike. Sadly my dirt bike is broken down and I havent had the motivation to fix it(it always breaks down again like a week or 2 later). I miss riding. :(

btw how close to toronto are you yarr? I'm like a 40min drive west of it irl
