It snowed last night. In fact, where I work, it snowed so bad people said it was a blizzard out last night.

At work here theres a good 1-2 inches of snow on the ground. I doubt its going to stay there all day, but still. Its freaking half way through October. Normally we dont see snow until late November.

I fail to see how this proves anything about global warming.

An a slight deviance of a day or a week, doesn't really prove anything. For or against golbal warming. But I'm still going to wear a jacket.

No, i just mean that some day in the future people are going to look back at our current science as a joke and laugh at what we thought were the staples of science.

If we don't get sent into another ice age because of global warming melting the ice on Greenland and causing the fresh water to fuck up the salt water currents in the ocean!

None of you have noticed that when september hits, its been progressively warmer ever year?

I remember when i was a young lass back in the early 80's it would be cold as hell. Now its completely bareable.

Why are you talking to me like I'm the one who's saying global warming is a lie? I believe that it's occuring. So far it's only Yarr that's gung ho about hating it.

Actually the thread was a joke about global warming. I was just commenting on how it snowed last night and its could enough outside to keep the snow on the ground.

oh and mikey. Thats just your observation. Personally I feel like its been getting colder every year earlier and earlier. I cant remember the last time I saw snow in october.

Actually, I always remembered sweating my balls off in school in sept, and lately it seems to be getting colder and colder, but then again i am getting older and have lost weight... it's funny that someone brought up global warming, because i was just thinking about acid rain the otehr day and like wtf happened to acid rain? wtf happened to the ozone layer? now it's all about global warming.. there's always some natural catastrophe that everyone's concerned about and then everyone forgets

Well. We fixed the ozone by using CFC subsititutes. But those are actually speeding up global warming in the process.

there were also some discovories made about the ozone and how some massive electrical storms actually regenerate it and what not. Not that its fixed or not an issue anymore, its just not in the lime light.

Theres still a massive hole in the ozone over antartica thats constantly growing.

No Yarr, I'm pretty sure that Ozone is the one problem that's actually fixing itself. I could be wrong though, I don't go to Antartica with my ozone measuring weather balloon very much.

Such things as Global Warming does exist, but its not effective enough as of now to make any massive changes. My opinion is that changes made will be adapted and eventually balanced out. Regardless of my opinon though, things will eventually sit back to normal, if not we'll have to change to adapt with accuring global warming, thus eventually finding a solution.

We should be more worried about our natural resources than global warming.

Global Warming doesn't just mean it will get hotter. As the planet warms, weather currents and trends are shifted, cold and hot. Your winter will be much worst due to excess moisture in the air from the extremely hot summers, and the shifting air currents from the colder and warmer areas shifting balance. The worst part of global warming is that it melts ice caps, introducing cold water into the Atlantic, more then normal. Water current in the Atlantic and Pacific drive the weather for the most part around the globe. Global warming is a phenomenon that will happen regardless of whether or not we existed though. It’s proven scientifically the planet goes through warming cycles.

The problem though, is we are exacerbating the current cycle. Instead of having a normal warming cycle, we are having a drastic warming cycle. The snow you got is a definite sign of global warming. Just like the hurricane cycle right now as well. If humans didn't exist there would have still been a hurricane cycle, but it wouldn't have been as drastic as the last one was. You still would have seen snow in your region, but it would not have been as drastic.

Problem is, how do you change it? Easy to say just fix it, but fixing the problem requires alot of sacrifice, that 99% of the world is not ready to accept yet. My 2 cents.

I agree.

Neat fact: According to one of my profs (she has a doctorate in environmental science) October 9 was Overshoot Day. This means that as of October 9, based on estimates, research, etc of our world's ecological footprint, the world has used up the resources for the entire 2006 year and we are now running on "savings" of resources. This study was first conducted in 1975 and the Overshoot Day of that year was December 15. The date has been getting earlier and earlier as we progress.
