So the ole' ball and chain and I are in somewhat of a disagreement. She's out of town for the weekend back home and I'm still here in Tempe. But this weekend I had an old lady friend from high school come into tempe from colorado. She's here because her boyfriend currently lives in phoenix, but when she's here we like to see each other too, since her boyfriend is at work a lot.

anyways, so my lady friend, Kristen, is a real good friend of mine, known her since like 5th grade, we kinda dated in like 8th or 9th grade, but now we both have our own significant others and are not interested in each other in the least. She's cute, and fun, but I would never date her, ever. And she would never date me, we're just buds.

So yesterday Kristen and I met up because her boy was at work and she didn't have anything to do all day, and my g/f is outta town so I was more or less free. So we decided to go climb camelback mountain and then we went out for a late lunch and got ice cream and came back to my place and watched playoff basketball with my roomates. Now my g/f isn't happy with me. She really dislikes the fact that I spent all day with Kristen and went hiking and whatnot.

Should i be sorry? I don't feel I've done anything wrong. But the g/f isn't happy, so maybe I should just concede defeat. I'm just confused on what to do.... my friend from high school wanted to hang out, I didn't wanna ditch her. Just wondering what your guys' opinion is. Is hanging out with other girls all day, even if you don't wanna get in bed with them, a dating no-no?

Look foward to angry sex I guess. Not really your fault unless you don't spend a lot of time with her. This is like an age old problem with relationships though is drawing certain boundries. I dunno, good luck though, haha

If this is the way you feel, can you blame her? Regardles of whether or not her feelings are justified, you would feel the same way if you were in her shoes, no?

Did you talk to her about this beforehand? Did you ask her how it would make her feel if you spent the day with another girl? I bet if you would bring everything out in the open ahead of time, she wouldn't feel so insecure about it. And if she wasn't ok with it, you'd know where you stand before you do anything.

Also, think about it if the situation were the opposite... Say you spent the day with another girl, and it didn't even make her bat an eye. Would you be more or less happy knowing that she doesn't feel any jealousy at all?

I'm married and pretty secure in my relationship, but I can still see where she's coming from. Although it's not so much the jealousy part that would disturb me - it would be that he didn't let me know beforehand what he was going to do. If I found out that he hung out with another woman all day after the fact, I'd probably be pissy. I guess I'd wonder how/why he neglected to tell me of an event that could potentially be that problematic.

I don't know if that makes sense, but I can see why she'd be upset. Maybe you could apologize, but not for hanging out with another girl. Maybe just apologize for not checking with her first to see how it would make her feel.

I know where youre coming from Denchi. Ive got a few close friends who are girls. Sunshine isnt a very jelous girlfriend, but she is a girl dont forget, so I cant just tell her I spent all day with some other girl. As long as I tell her before hand she doesnt care. Shes pretty laid back about it, the only time shes ever put her foot down was over my ex (not the one you guys know), although I really didnt want to be friends with her anyway lol.

unless they are living at your house, have an engagement ring, or personally carry your testicles in their pocket, visiting girls is "technically" fair game because you are just "bf/gf"

of course, the girl is always right, and seeing any other kind of girl in any way is always frowned upon. What i would do, have her meet your friend and get to know her so she is in the "friendzone." Once she knows shes not a threat, there shouldnt be a problem unless you go and visit this girl late at night, or you skip a date or something to hang out w/ her.

Well I did tell her beforehand that I would probably see her this weekend. But my g/f thought it would be like coffee or something, not an all-day thing doing the things my g/f likes to do (hiking). But my high school friend called me up and was like "Hey, lets play outside, lets go hiking or something." so I had to oblige.

So the point is, I'm pretty sure I knew that my g/f wouldn't have approved, but I just didn't wanna be lame to my friend who was visiting. My other option for the whole day was play ffxi (which I haven't done in a long time, and don't really want to), or sit and watch playoff basketball with my roomates and finish half a keg. Going hiking seemed like the most fun.

But Yarr brings up a good point....... hanging out with the ex is probably where you should draw the line. And Kristen and I do have a past, although it was in 9th grade, it's still a past.

I'll work on the 3-some idea. Kristen and her boyfriend aren't working out actually, she's down here pretty much to break up with him. I'll just pitch the idea... then wait for a phone call....

I don't know if I would be ballsy enough to actually try for a 3 some. That could change the relationship you are in even if the chick says she is ok with it beforehand. I know my friend Tom had that happen w/ his ex. He was all about swinging and shit with his first gf, then his next gf agreed to do that shit and they broke up shortly afterward. Dunno caused big problems with that chick and she was never the same around him, she didn't become a lesbian either. He also tried to get me to run the train on his gf with him (didn't even find her attractive, his taste sucks). Tom is a crazy motherfucker though. Has a kid now with one of his first ex, but isn't even dating her or anything and just pays child support. He is a manwhore like his father.

I was content enough with my first gf as far as sex goes. That is why I have never tried for the 3 some. Was pretty pussy whipped for a while. Nothing serious since then at all.
