Post subject:  Wireless network questions!

My home network consists of a bunch of Ethernet wires running across the floor (long story but they can't be run in my attic, otherwise I'd do that). My roommate has a crappy Link Sys wireless router.

I don't have the wireless card for my 360. I don't use it on my computer because it used to make me r0 in FFXI, and my internet speed was slower in general.

I would like to change to all wireless, because I hate the lines on the ground. I would make it a secured wireless network, so a router that can work with a password on 360 would be necessary.

Here's my questions:

1) Do any of you game on wireless?
2) Can you game on wireless with good bandwidth on 360 and PC? (I would buy the wireless card for 360)
3) What are some good wireless routers?

1) Yes
2) About the same as a cable. I get random drops sometime but its only once every 10+ hrs maybe. My upstairs computer goes through 3 walls on the wireless and still has 3/5 bars. My Wii worked just fine on the wireless, was able to stream video.
3) Linksys aka cisco is my choice. Most people have them and there is somewhat good support for the decent interface. Be aware that there is a high DOA rate for the cisco at bestbuy. Also dlink and netgear seem to be solid.

1. yes

2. I use it on my laptop, PS3, PSP and PC. I do get some drops from time to time which is normal for me. my ps3 and laptop are in living room about 50 feet away from wireless and thru 2 walls. my pc is in bedroom right next to wireless. Last PSP is just about anywhere in the house.

3. Linksys is my choice but plan to upgrade the router cuzz its getting old and I need better one.

New wireless is very very stong and very very reliable (802.11n), i hated wireless because of the drops, but ever since i updated everything to 802.11n from 802.11g i got 200% increase in results.

The 360 wireless adapter is quality and picks up the downstairs signal at full strength from my room upstairs.

My setup was basically a linksys wireless router connected to one of these up in my room.

My laptop, desktop, and whatever else I'd need to give an internet connection.

I'm sure linksys makes newer/better stuff than the WET11 access point, but I got that a long time ago to play PSO on the gamecube on my home's wireless set up. It's been pretty reliable, I played FFXI over it.

I just got a new modem from my DSL company (company I work for lol). It has a built in wireless router, and has extra ethernet ports for running cable. Pretty cool. Thanks for the replies guys. I'll be purchasing the 360 wireless card soon.
