I just got all the parts for my new system and the freaking Windows install keeps locking 
Myth's new toy: Athlon 3800+ 1GB Corsair 2-2-2-5 DDR400 MSI Neo2 Platinum (nForce3 chipset) WD SATA 74GB 10krpm drive WD SATA 250GB 7200rpm drive (omg teh pr0n!) Plextor SATA DVD+/-RW and I ganked the ATI 9800XT outta my previous system. If the damn thing doesn't start working tonight I'm going to kill someone

I heard the Neo2 has a lot of problems :-( nice choice on the RAM though, that's what I have. runs at 3-2-2-2 if you want it to. |

Damn, I did my homework and heard nothing but good things about it. I think I isolated the problem though. I forgot to load in the SATA drivers for the Windows install. Dumb mistake, but I forgot since it was late at night and the initial install could find the drives to format them. |

well that's good. Also, with the athlon 64's I think it's better to run the Tras (memory timings) at 10. I read on Anandtech and tomshardware that it performs best that way. that's what I'm running mine at. 3-2-10-2 |

You know what's sad is that I read SATA as sneak attack trick attack first instead of what I knew it really meant >< Anyway, yeah, that was most likely the problem :P |

oh yeah! and grats on the 3800+ that's a beefy processor. I'm running the FX-53. The speed is unreal, you'll love it. |

For anyone who's interested, the problem was with the SATA DVD burner. When I switched it out with my IDE burner everything worked fine. I guess the XP installer doesn't play nice with an SATA CD/DVD. |
