Post subject:  Should Lucas do it?

I don't know if this has been discussed in this forum but I'm bored and interested in hearing what others think.

The question: Should George Lucas remake episodes 4-6?

I began to contemplate this after recently watching all the Star Wars films back to back. Although the story-line seems to flow semi-well throughout all 6, the difference in the look of the of first 3 vs. the last 3 is just too big to ignore, thus making it sorta seem that the films aren't even related.

I love the original 3 movies because THEY ARE Star Wars and they will always be the best 3 episodes ever, BUT wouldn't it be kinda neat to see them remade with todays technology? Maybe not? Like who could they cast? I think keeping Ewan McGregor on as Obi Wan would be great 'cause he did a pretty good job, but I have no clue who could fill the roles of everyone else???

Eventhough I believe many people oppose this idea of remaking the films (myself once being one of those people) I think they would still break box-office records and still be worth a watch, afterall, if they were to suck you could just stick to the original 3^^.

Anyways, what do you think? Discuss.

Maybe post suggestions to fill character rolls too.

I'd like to see the last 3 made first... but Lucas said he wasn't going to do them. But then there is the whole deal with the actors already signing contracts for the last 3. I'm sure if Lucas doesn't do it someone will.

I totally agree that Lucas shouldn't do them...it seems that as he gets older he gets cheezier and cheezier...but I think we'd have to wait 'til Lucas dies before any other director could touch the original 3 storylines.

Another thought I had was what if Episodes 1-3 were redone RETRO style. Puppets and cheezy light sabre and laser animations! AWESOME! But I'm sure that'd never happen.

Ya, I was thinking the same thing. If he remade them, they wouldn't nearly be as good as the original, but at least they would make some sense. In all honesty, he should have just paid more attention to the details of the original trilogy rather than us speculating about a remake of the old stuff.

lucas should just stop making movies, he has probly well over 1 billion dollars.

He should remake them too be like....ya know...better

just to let you know, according to interviews, he made 1-3 cheezy on purpose. He wanted it to be like the space soap operas he loved as a kid. so, while it does kinda suck, at least there is a good reason for it.

now, as for remaking? thanks for the offer, but i'll have to pass. Think about it, who could play Han Solo better than Harrison Ford? no one, period. almost all the other actors could prolly be replaced, but not him, and that would ruin the movie.

I totally agree with that, although I also never thought that they'd be able to cast an actor to play Wolverine in the X-Men movies and do a good job at it...but Hugh Jackman pulled it off superbly imo. I suppose emulating a comic character is a little different than emulating a prior character performance though. Maybe they could digitally create Ford as Han 'Jarjar' Solo... j/k.

I also heard something about Lucas being cheezy on purpose too. I think it's most noticeable in Hayden Christensen's lines and performance because watching Hayden in other movies he isn't as big a cheezeball actor as he is in Episodes 1-3. In the Star Wars flics I sense that he is trying to act a little like our cheezy friend Luke Skywalker, which makes total sense.

Anyways, off to watch Batman Begins! Stoked for this one!
