This is possibly the most debated thing about DT I've seen. I want to get my opinion from some of the people who like it here. I found some ProgHeads at my school and they're almost split 50-50 on it.

I personally can't really decide if I like it. Sometimes it sounds like DT and other times it honestly sounds like Metallica. I almost feel embarassed listening to it sometimes because it sounds like retarded 80's metal that just thrashes through opportunities for musicianship.

So what do you guys think?

Dream Theater Album

of course i like it, it's awesome. but it's also a low point for DT, which is really saying a lot because it's some great music. track 2 4 and 7 are my fav's on this album

track 2 "Dying Soul" is the track that kind of gives this album its personality in my opinion. although it does steal a few riffs from 6 degrees i think, but overall the feel is unique somehow.

track 4 "honor thy father" reminds me of Awake which i like, also has kind of a Falling into Infinity feel at times

track 7 "stream of consciousness" is just cool through and through. pure DT. instrumental though.

track 1 is good too "As I Am" its the kind of song that is fun to listen to but kind of forgettable when youre done.

i never really got into track 3 or 8. 5 is so-so.

thats my take on it. sorry its all out of order.

Interesting. I really actually like This Dying Soul (well most parts of it) and As I Am, but Honor Thy Father is just too steamplowish to me.

Some people think that ToT is the second coming though, hehe.

dream theater played track 3 "endless sacrifice" at the concert, and now i like it a lot
