Just heard a report from a coworker of a family members, there are 20 oil rigs MISSING, from the gulf of mexico. The oil refineries ar getting back to running conidition and the release of oil reserves will help the price a little, but that is the reason. |

Here in Japan the average is 125-128 yen/litre...which is expensive but not as bad as the US and Canada right now. We use Mid East supplies here so Katrina didn't impact the market, however anytime theres a skirmish in Iraq the price spikes by 10-15 yen. I've heard from family back in Canada that prices are nuts...like a buck 20 something per litre. When I left Canada 3 years ago I can remember it being like 74cents/litre...I say it's about time we all switched to alternative sources of fuel...or at least pressure the powers that be to hasten the release of alternative fuels into the market. My apologies to the metrically impaired. |

Atlanta got hit hard because two of the main oil pipelines that run through the southeast got damaged, and both those pipelines run through Atlanta. About half of the city's gas stations are currently closed because there's no gas. I saw a photo in the morning news today of an Atlanta gas station advertising $6.19 a gallon. |

This thread came at the perfect time. I got my first car yesterday lol. It's a 97 Chevy Cavalier, lol. It's awesome though and gets about 25 MPG. I was happy at first but then I got into a depressing talk with my friend about how little time ill have for video games when I have to get a job, lol. |
