Our area is far enough away from the coast that we probably won't see much from this but this is still somewhat scary...

It was upgraded to Cat 4 at like 11:00 last night, IIRC. They said the conditions are right for it to get to cat 5 but its not expected to get to cat 5, just enough to stay cat 4(maybe).

It's a CAT 5 per CNN. Good luck and Godspeed to those in the path.

damn straight it does...
Galveston is screwed, Houston is goin to be hit hard (all the astrodome guys have been evacuated to arkansas) Our game has been scheduled to thursday @ night, classes canceled for friday. just one thing i dont get, is how i am getting mixed reports in. I hear that it is going to be hitting us (college station) with 120+ mph winds on saturday night, and i've also heard the probability of it actually making this far is less than 50%, and these are all from the newspaper/dean of the college.

Fattino, can i come live with you over the weekend?

well, today it took me 45minutes to pump about 10 gallons worth o gas in my lil 88 supra, gas was 2.79, which is cheap considering the circumstances and demand. They have changed I-45 to a 4 lane highway, making it only drivable going south to north.

My university isnt in the direct path of the storm, but we will get some wind/rain/etc but classes are scheduled to be held on monday as scheduled, but getting back to college station is going to be a pain in the ass.

so should i stay, or should i go?

Author:  Morachi [ Thu Sep 22, 2005 1:58 pm ]

I would probably stay. If I remember correctly, College Station / Bryan, Texas isn't too close to the coast. It's like an hour or two from Austin, right? Anyway, I'd probably just chill there. Up to you, though.

I live in Plano which is like 20 mins from Dallas. I'm kind of looking forward to the stormy weather here. But I hope everyone that's in the path will be safe, Take shelter if you can't leave.

it looks like it will be hitting beaumont or lake charles head on, but houston will still get hit hard with the arms of the hurricane. and new orleans has 3 more levee breaks and is reflooding, according to the news, so that really sucks. gl to whoever is in that whole area.
