ok lets say you met this person, well technically you didn't just meet them. You were in H.S. with them and they're in your extended circle of friends however you see them very very rarely. You've always been attracted to them, and not just physically but you find there to be this amazing "soft" quality about them that you find hella appealing. You've never tried to make a play for them previously because you always looked at them more as like a little brother/sister type. And then when you realized that a 21 and a 26 yr old dating isn't really all that huge of a gap you're reminded that they are in fact the younger sibling of another friend, or that at one point they were dating another friend.

Let's say that you recently hung out with this person after not seeing them for several months and detected some sort of vibe from the situation and that even a mutual friend who was there pointed out that you and this person seemed to be flirting pretty heavily with eachother. At the time it seemed inappropriate to ask them for their number so you let them leave even though you wanted get it badly. Ever since seeing them you've been thinking about them, and are interested in seeing if they'd be willing to pursue something amorous. So you? (see above)

really? a few folks i spoke to about it said that if I got her number from any means other than her giving it to me herself and called her up randomly that it might scare her off. Plus, the one friend i'm certain has it, is being kinda weird about giving it to me and i feel awkward about asking her for it

oh and for now I'm trying my hardest to just forget she exists, but it seems like the more I try and stop myself from thinking about her the more it makes me think about her.. I'm such a sucker

and i guess you guys are right.. i once believed in a philosophy that if someone likes you or doesn't like you that's pretty much it and no amount of skill or trickery will get them to sway their opinion towards one way or the other if they already have their mind made up (think about how many times you liked someone and they fuck up royally but you still like them anyway) I guess I'm just fucking nervous because this little prospect has got me being positive and happy and dispalying behavior that is very opposite of my normal temperament. i dun want to get hurt :(

It's not like you're in love with her, and it's not like you'll be missing out on a whole lot if you never see her again (since you see her only very rarely now anyway). But on the bright side, things could turn out well. But you'll never know if you keep pussy-footing around.

Life isn't going to live itself without you. Stop with the 'what-ifs' and do something if you want something to happen.
