Not sure how many people even like this show. Talisin and I found a new forum we post on since people here dont seem as obsessed with it as we are haha.

Id say Buffy: The vampire slayer and Smallville are shows that are alot alike. The first episode of season 5 was finally on in Canada (sunday not wednesday i think) and it was awesome.

Not sure if there are any buffy fans but there were some buffy faces on the cast of smallville last night. Seems one of Buffys biggest actors is about to move his way into Smallville.

Two actors were on it, Leonard Roberts and James Marsters.

James Marsters was "Spike" and was probably one of the biggest characters on that show, while Leonard Roberts was a side character during the whole "riley" and the Army thing during season 4 or 5. He was Riley's best friend and wasnt a huge character on the show. So far it seems that Leonard Roberts' character was 'killed' off, but i have a feeling he's going to be back.

Anyway it was an awesome episode and I cant wait for next week.

I was insanely happy with the season permire of smallville.. it is great to see things that occur in the movie or comic's happen such as the phantom zone and the little square as they floated away. I was really great seeing "spike" do something else. Oh yea.. HEY GRIM

That episode was ok, but I thought it was a ripoff of Superman II. Marsters is probably going to be Zod or something to do with Zod since the two lackeys got locked in prison.

TV.com has James listed as playing "Professor Milton Fine / Brainiac"

So it looks like Clark wont be the only person hiding his secret powers.

I wouldnt really call it "ripping off" after all smallville is now done highschool and it was after high school that superman in the movies (and comic i think) moved out of smallville and started his life as "superman".

Calling smallvill a "ripoff" show for "ripping off" superman ideas is kind of impossible. I mean it would be like making fun of Spiderman the movie for using the Green Goblin plot.

This is superman the TV show after all.

Whoa! I thought Brainiac was a robot from Krypton. What's the deal with the liquid form? Did I miss something?

By "ripoff", I meant that it seems highly unlikely that Supes would use the same trick to finish off the bad guys in the tv show as he will later on in the movie. I can see it being a homage to the movies, but c'mon. At least make them battle or something. That was the lamest excuse for a fight I've seen since Superman II. LOL

On a side note...

Marsters when pulled from the Buffy series to the Angel one had the highest Q codes you could score with the audience.

ie: The fans LOVE every scene with him in it.

What that means for him is that he will be pulled into various situational series and increase appeal. He may not save the series from being cut prematurely. (ie: Angel Season 5 RIP) But he is great for adding a few extra ever so important rating points.

Marsters also worked with the WB before so I'm sure they had a hand in the recasting of this particular actor.

It's like when you see a lot of different series similar actors being used in HBO programs. (Mrs. Soprano was originally a prison guard from Oz.)

These same scores are why people like Allyson Hannigan have a new series out as does David Boreneaz.

They film Smallville primarily close to 10 minutes from where I used to live in Vancouver. Never saw any of the actors, but I heard the buzz when one passed through to buy coffee or a newspaper.
