Sounds like wearing a uniform and acting a certain way to be accepted. I have always been the complete opposite. I was 'emo' at one point in my thoughts and emotions but now that it's 'cool' and 'scene' you'll never hear me say that I am 'emo' or any bullshit like that. I am Matt. I'm not some fucking clothes or some style of music.

This whole thread makes me want to vomit. Everyone wants to be different but at the same time they end up being just like everyone else. But why? Why would you want to do what other people are doing? Why would you do something just because it's cool? Whynot just do whatever the hell you want and if people don't like it then who cares? Because I for one would not want to surround myself with people that are only my friends because we are in the same clique and wear the same clothes.

I have never been like that. People would hear me listen to punk and say "wtf I thought you were hardcore!" or hear me listening to Eric Johnson and have the same reaction. "Why are you listening to this? You don't wear xxxx clothing." or "You don't have long hair."

People disgust me and highschool for me was hell. I never fit into a single scene or a single group. It was so hard for me to make friends because everyone would change their attitudes and beliefs based on what the current fads were. It's like no one knows who they are and when they get out of highschool they realize that the world is nothing like this. No one cares what you listen to; no one cares about what you wear. (except maybe your boss)

If you like emotional , slow, droning music then listen to it. But don't force yourself to like something because it's what is cool at the momment. And just because you like a certain kind of music doesn't mean you need to buy a new wardrobe to fit it. Fuck you people.

In my High school experience most people don't give a fuck about what other people do. Except for the "true punk" people are all like "omg preppy people cant wear converse waah wahh" but everyone just ignored them and was like stfu who cares.

being a dork/loser is always cool. point being those are the ppl who dont give a fuck what anyone thinks of them so they act like themself the most... thereby making them cool. also dorks and losers once theyre comfortable with themself fit in more with every group because they dont care what clique youre in.

i was awkward until close to the end of 9th grade, when i stoped caring what everyone thought about me and just acted like myself. humor crosses all clique lines and got me friends with everyone.

I just think it's funny that "scene" is now like a "thing" Matti I'm really the same as you and agreed with everything you said.. I just didn't want to be the one to flame lol. and cuz I think led's ok and I didn't want to be like "omg stfu" that's why i was like this thread must die.. and posted a bunch of banksy stuff instead since my thread on him received no attention and i was disappointed.

I am myself too Matti, I think it's shame that a lot of what I held dear to me and was my salvage from not fitting in is now being exploited and is comercial. You'll see like EMO HARDCORE in big corporate red letters, the style just taken to an almost cartoon like extreme. A "sellable" version. But I'm just too old to revolt man. Trends come and go, real people stay real.. Be interested in what you're interested in and you'll always be interesting.

I feel like I didn't exploit "the scene" I released an ep on an independent long island co's record label, we were constantly doing benefit shows, never got paid, toured with what we could save, always tried to help everyone and it was all about making and playing to friends. I wore what I was comfy in, and I still look exactly like that as far as style goes. It's the same way I've looked since HS, I know that your post most likely wasn't any kind of attack towards me but merely just expressing your disgust, still I felt I should claify.

The sad things is that as I get older I see more and more that I contribute to it, that one day soon I'll be a parent, and that I'm working a corprate day job and lending my work and thought to "the man". Apart of me wants so badly to be that too, some dumb straight laced suburbanite with 2.5 kids, a cheating wife, and a minivan. Still another part of me will always feel like the lost, insecure, shy, emotionally unstable teenager bumbling through life harping on his one true love.. and the sad thing is I enjoy indulging in the latter much more than the former. I'd much rather be broken down and disgusted at humanity and hate my existance than to give up my honesty, creativity, emotions, and hope in one day finding my own utopia where i can be me and be appreciated for being myself.

and to conclude, i'm 26.5, i've kissed 10 girls in my lifetime and I know all their names, I work 9-5 to support my disabled mother, and I spend the rest of my time in front of a tv screen playing an mmorpg. I barely speak to anyone and if anything my shyness and insecurity have only gotten worse as time keeps on. I've alienated all my rl friend, I think about Maio a lot, and I think about suicide alot, and I just worry about everything that my lack of motivation to do anything is preventing me from acheiving. and that's me, if that's "cool" than why do I still feel like shit?

yeh, I always thougth so too, unfortunately, she came as a package with the bassist, ever since first meeting them, they were an item, so I never really saw her like that, and as time went on she just grew to be like a little sister to me. She had a lot of the same morals and ideals that I did, she was a virgin and raised strict catholic and thought that women exploting themselves and be sluts was wrong, we always had this running joke that if we ever got on mtv we'd do our damndest to play spring break and show up wearing big winter coats and complain the whole time about all the skin and debauchery. Nonetheless, I haven't spoken to her since the band split and it's a shame really, we patched things up but never really got back on a good level. She's in a new band now, I'll look around for their site, last I heard her and Mike (bassist) had split and he was dating some amazing piece of ass.. i was so jealous. You should make yr move lol



Hey thanks ^^ we recorded that shit in brooklyn in the dead of winter and was such an ordeal we spent like 3 days on the vocal tracks alone and couldn't get them right, at one point the heat in my apt shut off and i had 3 days of frozen misery right in between it all. The band was unraveling at the seems and a lot of the shit that I had been able to fake live wasn't flying in the studio, it was just very stressful. We had like 1 day to mix too.. 5 songs in 10 hours. That was our biggest downfall i think... too much time laying down and then not enough time to mix all properly.. The drums are right in your lap when they should be in the background.. and when it's rocking they tend to not cut through like they should. I'm still proud of the recording, i think the production is great, but I know it could've been a lot better with the proper amount of preperation and time. I'll try and find the CD and post all the tracks, thanks for the kind words. and about Ray, I always thought she had the ebst scream I'd ever heard male or female.. take that walls of jericho
