http://www.ushicon.com Yup. Ushicon, the Austin Area anime convention is here yet again~! And living in the austin area makes this one alot more fun, I actually know my way around, and should anything be forgotten, home isnt far. Costume List!! Doing Jiraiya once again, simply because it got pretty good feedback at cons *(especially when I have my binoculars with me)* Doing Johnny from Guilty Gear X - no shirty goodness, also my girlfriend is gonna be May for me, shes tiny and has the build to do May very well too, so that works out nicely. Might do Ryu a'la Street Fighter again, but not 100% sure yet. Plans on future costumes: Kujo Jotaro - "JoJo" from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Well, you know how it works by now...I dissapear for about 4 days, come back with nerdy pictures and funny stories that nobody will read and only Yarr and Milly will respond to...and both will be making fun of me. LETS GET IT STARTED! ORAAAAAAAA! |

I like pirate girls. Discuss. That said Guilty Gear Males always seemed particularly long legged to me... I wonder if you'll have to hike up your pants to pull off the effect properly =) Still i think your pirate will look better than your Jotaro |

Well, Ushicon was a rapidly growing convention, and Ushicon 4 actually tallied something around 3000+ attendies. However, the only Hotel that could be arranged for that many people was the Renaissance Austin, which was very rude and didn't welcome the convention as warmly as the staff had hoped. So Ushicon had to go back to the location of Ushicon 2 and 3, which was the downtown Marriott...but they have a limit of 2000 people, so Ushicon had to cut down 1000 or so attendies by making it pre-register only, and even then it was first come-first serve. So once 2000 members was hit, pre-reg closed. HOWEVER!!! Theres gonna be alot of people who might not show up and there will be unclaimed badges if you know where to look. (Not to mention I'm sure plenty of counterfitters will be working their laminators to the bone) So dont worry, theres still hope the last minute show ups. |

Are the counterfit badges easily identifiable by the officials? I've always wondered how people would pull that off and be able to go around with the fake ones. |

It's not exactly FBI level security, they glance at your badge as you walk into any places that require it, and look for the same logo, colors and if the badge is printed horizontal or vertical, they don't inspect them very closely, so a laminated copy of an original scanned badge isn't hard to come by. There are a few things that could cause counterfits to get caught, the badges are numbered and some conventions have been known to have an exclusive stamp or holograph on them, but its one of those things that any normal con-staff person would simply look right past. Most people on staff are volunteers who only volunteered for a free badge themselves, they could care less about checking for counterfits. |

Balitmore is closer to me than DC anyway haha Lesse...by August? Yeah, I can probably save up enough for air fare, hotel and all that jazz. I'll start saving up and see how money is by August, but I've always wanted to go to Otakon, I'll do my best to be there! |

Haha, so you're going to Akon for sure Paz? I'm not sure what I'll be dressed as for that one...might go ahead and do Jotaro Kujo from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure...or possibly Giorno Giovanni, but NOBODY would know who I was. |
