This was like the coolest thing at my school in grade 7. Like it was "cool" and no one thought it was nerdy. Then we went to highschool and got a big wake up call. My elementry school was awesome because everyone was hardcore nerds but it was 100% socially accepted. thats why I'm such a nerd.

I used to play pretty hardcore. I think I still have all my cards, but I haven't played since I got to college. I probably have more cards than Pix lol, just from people quitting and giving me their cards etc.

I had like 4 specific decks made up lol. I then had a big dump of cards that were just fairly common cards. I probably never had over 2k. I loved buying them and collecting them as much as I did playing.

There was something so fun about opening a pack and crossing your fingers that you might get lucky and find that perfect awesome super rare card.

lol its probably that same reason I got into MMGs.

lol was hardcore into MTG

stopped buying cards around Ice Age edition

If you ever seen the cork boxes that wine comes in, I have 15 of those boxes filled with MTG cards. My highschool was pretty accepting of stuff, but then again I am a big guy, so I don't think if anyone wanted to pick on me they would have, I think my other friends liked it too :-p

It rocked and I think its way betteer then that Yugioh rip off garbage, but its hard to find a good player, and its hard to get into it now with all the rule changes and such, the've added like 6 new rules since i played, and none of my cards have any of those new rules, plus all my cards are banned/restiricted that i played with back in the day. I have one deck that was the shit back in the day, and now like half the cards are not allowed to be used in a normal tournament...

Was a good game though... show my future kids one day what a nerd I was...

I was only in it for the first\second gen of cards. Once the first like expansion thing came out I was gone.

Oh man, I remember playing magic. haha. I picked it up in like the 7th grade, or whenever, when the Revised edition came out. I played through a few expansions, but I never really purchased new cards (Just remember seeing the new expansion sets).

But then highschool came along, and that tends to change things. heh

I'm so happy that my girlfriend is a gamer and stuff, too, though, so I don't feel as bad about being a nerd :P

Eternal
1914 rating 255 matches 48 events
59 All 34 North America 30 United States
1 Pennsylvania 4 New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island, NY-NJ-CT

that was 7th in the world for a bit, then I kinda sucked for a few months straight. Purchased all my P9 right before Type1 got big and made bank on it(about 2 grand profit) after leaving the format.

Kinda quit a few months ago though. Now I'm down to 2 decks, a rat deck thats been through a hundred different revisions since Fallen empires was released. And a worm deck inspired by the movie Children of dune lol. both casual play

I'm slow...
I can't understand a single thing about that ranking stuff, did you make someone throw their deck at you in frustration? Did someone cry when you killed their last djinn? Did everyone in the room say oh shit when someone did a bunch of stuff and you said counterspell... Cause then thats what i remember being cool about MTG. I can't deal with all those diffrent tournies styles and plays and match numbers and decision factors and stuff, did they cry when you kicked their ass is all i wanna know??? :)

I've played MTG off and on since I was 11. Makes it fun when I pull out all my old decks and go to the local card shops to play. Everyone else has all these new deck themes and cards and I pull out the old trusty elf deck and watch eyes pop. Good times, Good times. And for the record I would like to state that the only thing worse than being crushed by 4 65/65 trample elves is being crushed by 9999999999999 1/1 squirrels. God I hate squirrels.

back in the day i acutally got a rabid wombat up to 100 something with a bunch of enchantments on it

i prefer the sliver stuff now though, i brought all the slivers that came out in that weird period after ice age, and used them with all my pre ice age cards, so my sliver deck is a type 1 sliver deck, its pretty hot when i get the heartstone, queen, and altar out. infinite damage(acidic sliver), inifnite life(victual sliver), infinite cards(some sliver does that), inifinite slivers! i love slivers...

inifnity is an awesome number

I used to make fun of kids that played this and collected those lame ass cards.

If you know me at all you know I'm a complete nerd so for me to say something was nerdy and lame it has to be pretty fucking nerdy and lame.

I digress.

worst defeat i saw... being pecked to death by 1 by your own upkeep cost on a creature you can't get rid of, and having everything else locked on the board so all you get to say its.. done

permission decks.. gotta love them

ADND is definitely way better

ultimate nerd fest:

MTG after school until 4, then ADND until 10, pizza and games until 12, gemstone until 5 next morning, sleep, repeat for next 5 days cause campaign was kicking ass

I'm proud of the nerdyness I got to expierence, it allows me a deeper insight into everything else and a better ability understand and deal with people being diffrent.

Plus it was fun as all hell when it was going on :-P

lol, my husband and I are huge FN nerds. We play video games, warhammer and other things classified under the category or 'NERD'. There is a comic book/hobby store we frequent and in the back is a section set up with banquet tables where people (8-12 year olds mostly...and the odd middle aged man who tries to F the kids over. lol) sit and play that card game...

We always make fun of them. haha 8)

I played a ton! not so much now, since I can't speak german >_>;

every week or so me and friends from back home have an online sealed tourny. so I'm still pretty informed on stuff.

not sure if I'll ever get hardcore into buying cards again though.

ohand my main decks are 1) red chaos (aka best deck ever cause people end up quitting and I win :O) 2) green poison-counter 3)blue/white bird sancturay.

Theres alot more strategy involved in mtg than any other game, ccg/console/pc wise, than any other game I've ever played.
<3

and yeah Daedalan, made kids cry before lol

I had a kickass sneak attack deck. My friends wouldn't play against it. only thing that could beat it was a well-made counter deck.

Why do they make new rules where you can't use older cards? That's pretty stupid imo. And I've always wanted to try and play this, and my friend was going to teach me, but then some kid stole his deck at school and he wouldn't let us mug him for his cards back :(.

there is only so many versions of the same elf you can make before you have to make a new ability so you can make that same elf 400 more times with this new abilty or rule... and old cards get killed so new players don't unfairely gwet pwned by the original cards. my original cards will demolish just about any brand new deck design, but only if I was allowed to play the way it was back then, half my deck would probaly be gone if I played by their rules.

i remember playing it back in middle school, and teachin all the kids in my class how to "tap" your mana to get monsters and shit.

I also remember going to a tournement with a deck of 3 colors, and losing in 3 rounds.

I also remember playing a black deck w/ sengir vampires, hypnotic specters, and racks and such and doing fairly well. Would play ppl on AOL 3.0 over IMs

**EDIT** i also remember playing the FRIGGIN COMPUTER GAME!!!! HOW FUCKIN COOL WAS THAT!
