I picked Rock, since most hardcore Metal bands just slash on guitars from what I can tell, its not really music, just banging around. I also don't think that Metallica (anymore at least) is hardcore metal. I listen to a lot of classic rock now too... |

I listen to everything pretty much. From Ted Leo to Mates of State to Jack Johnson to Paul Oakenfold to Tool to Coheed and Cambria to The Fall of Troy. But I think the music that gives me the most enjoyment when it's good is electronica, but good electronica is so hard to find. |

Whisp wrote: Led wrote: where is the scene option lol ![]() Rock for me. Dream Theater is by far my favorite band now (which is borderline prog rock/metal). I also really like Rush, Porcupine Tree, Umphrey's McGee, Radiohead, U2 and REM. Also a variety of Jazz (I'm really into the standards, especially Gordin Goodwin rendetions) and Funk (Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Tower of Power, ect). I dislike heavy death metal (anything with screaming or growling), pop music, emo(including "hardcore" and "scene". It's all the same shit only with more double bass drum, heh). |

pop, rock, and R&B are all on my blacklist....no real point to those, not good sogwriting, nothing original in the music, and its all generated by what the manufacturers think everyone wants....cept maybe Rap. thats just stupid |

post-punk, emo, screamo, hardcore, metalcore, alternative, black metal, death metal, grindcore, shoegazer, indie rock, electronica, some hip-hop that's about it for me. I guess the majority of it falls under rock so I voted for that |

I like lots of types of music. Yarr and I listen to White Stripes, Beck and the Strokes a lot, but I also like Hot Hot Heat, Jack Johnson, Panic at the Disco...I'm also into dance and pop music (I'm a girl lol). My best friend is a piano performance graduate from university, so I also enjoy my fair share of classical and jazz. And we can't forget that I'm a drama major, so I also like musicals. lol So basically, I like almost anything, or I'm willing to listen to almost anything except for the "death metal" screaming, sounding like a cat is dying...it's good for some, but not for me! |

I think you need to have supressed rage or sadistic tendencies to truly appreciate stuff like that. A lot of women don't seem to really understand it but that's because they're not suffering from mild brain damage from having their brain saturated in testosterone while in their mother's womb. I've also found that a good majority women tend to focus mostly on vocals in a song.. they seem to be able to identify when a song is catchy and they can "groove" to it (more so when it's vocally driven).. but would never be able to tell you whether any of the individual band members were decent or not based upon other musicians unless it was blatantly obvious and dischorded due to a lack of talent/ability. It's for this reason that a lot of women can't identify or understand hardcore/metal "I don't understand/like the screaming.. I can't hear what the person is saying.. there's no rythmn to it, etc." I think it's beautiful, and I've always wanted to start a band that would make you cry one minute and then make you want to go slice someone in half with a chainsaw the next. http://www.dirkeffertz.com/mp3s/mystery.mp3 |
