Anyways its time for Madis official review of Abre Los Ojos.
Overall, not impressed. The movie is visially boring, as well as. . . emotionally boring, but it does have some good moments.
The storyline is almost identical to vanilla sky with some differences, like it takes place in spain and is all in spanish. Sofia is a mime, not a dancer. And she has a cat, not a dog. The characters names are different except for sofia, Julianna is Nuria, and David is Cesar, pelayo is cesars best friend. Some scenes are literally identical between the movies, as well as lines.
Basically abre los ojos is a dulled down, easier to comprehend movie for the masses, wich is probably why it did alot better than the emotionally complex vanilla sky.
Dissapointments were that the music in abre los ojos is completely nothing compared to vanilla sky, everyone knows how perfect the music in vanilla sky was. That was a big dissapointment for me in abre los ojos. The spanish film really isnt that much a love story, its just got a whole different feeling to it, even though dialogue and characters are the same.
Oh and also, david doesnt own a magazine company he owns a resturant chain.
The ending is abit more extreme, david kills a few mroe people and gets his psychiatrist shot in the L.E Building, but alot more was explained, liek i said this movie was abit easier to understand, you didnt have to watch it a couple times like with vanilla sky.
But vanilla sky's ending is priceless, Sofias big silly coat on the roof top (( sofia doesnt have that coat in abre los ojos, another dissapointment)), the
memories in the elevator, when sofia visits davids funeral, all were non existant in abre los ojos. Cesar does say the same line on the roof though " let them up their read my mind" and sofia does appear, but they dont talk much at all save 1 or 2 words, and shes in an ugly white dress that makes penelope look fat.
Also instead of Rabecca dearborn (( tilda swinton )) giving her intruiging explanation of life extension with a cool uber video, you get a dull guy that explains it brifly with two little sticks.
Overall, for people with brains larger than a pea, Vanilla sky majorly pwns abre los ojos, gogo tom cruise! (( even tho i hate that retard, he made a good movie. ))
