To be honest, having a large group is not a bad thing, especially in the early days of an MMO's life. You can guarantee many people will stop playing in the first year, and it's better to have your group half from 100 to 50, than half from 20 to 10. Recruiting people later once they're all established in existing companies is a lot harder than just cultivating and growing a large new cast from scratch at the game's launch. It's a mistake we made in 1.0 that resulted in near unplayable numbers by the game's end, and I'm happy we're not making the same mistake this time. I'm sure there's the worry that our group isn't quite as tightly knit as it once was, but as long as people are more open to asking in FC chat, you can instead see it as always having people around to do stuff with. It's pretty rare that you can ask to do AK and there simply being nobody on who wants to do it (at the very least somebody is already doing it). I'm looking forward to the 24 man raids in Crystal Tower, we should be able to fill that up with just our own FC! Back in 1.0 though we were the infamous "Team 7/8" who couldn't do anything because a single person was offline that night. |

Well, I think it's pretty amazing how many good players we have, when you consider that we have not gotten a single one of them through /shout recruitment like most of those others have. |

I find the chat box in this game kind of hard to notice overall when not doing events where Im expecting to have to chat on a regular basis. I had the same problem in WoW. It's just not as in your face as XI, and you don't have to monitor the log as often for things like debuffs, mobs using moves, etc. Just overall a lot less focus on the chat logs makes me miss things. |
