As previously announced, we will be bringing the extended free trial period to a close and introducing subscription-based billing to FINAL FANTASY XIV, commencing Friday, January 6, 2012.

Beginning today, players have the opportunity to set up a subscription plan. Upon agreeing to the terms and conditions of subscription-based billing, we ask that you complete the procedure via the Square Enix Account Management System.

Please note that we are working to implement additional payment options around the commencement of billing in early January.

Set up your subscription plan.
Peruse the fee structure and learn about the subscription process.
Review the article announcing the commencement of billing.

I might hold off on the first billing month, i'm not happy with the lack of content in this patch, the achievement system and moogle bc are basically just grinders until the next patch.

so far i'm really liking the new actions and combo system. but yeah, the "craft 10,000 things on a job you already crafted 10,000 things on to get 50 in the first place all over again" is fucking lame as shit

I figured the craft grinding achievement wouldn't go through, simply because they couldn't verify that you did it, since they weren't tallying it before. Sucks, but isn't too surprising.

At least it's another activity you can do. lol.

After realizing the lack of content i too may hold off on subbing. I was mostly looking forward to the changes in retainer system which have been pushed back, and the hope of finding PTs better to finish of leveling my jobs. Might just end up playing BF3 till more content is released.

And the next patch will only add new jobs to grind. FFXIV = infinite grindfest.

the jobs wont be grinded, the level of the related class is the same as the job. unless they add a new class too though but i dont think they said that yet.

i think the next patch is bringing 2 more instance raids too though, no?
