Hopefully these images stay up, the original disappeared rather quickly. Somebody dat-swapped some seemingly future gear into the beta, it seems. A few things in here: what looks like Odin's Armor (complete with helmet AND cape -- not yet animated), Titan's weapons, Siren, a yellow Hydra, and some kind of "Tron"-like weaponry. Regarding that list of arcanist/summoner abilities. Arcanist sounds quite shitty without the summoner damage boosts/utilities. But on the other hand that will probably avoid the Black mage issue where the Thm gets more damage from other class skills than from the Black mage ones. It also depends how effective carbuncle is Vs Ifrit/garuda etc, and exactly what classes the summoner/scholar can pull class abilities from. Anyway it'd also be nice if the Arcanist could spread the dots from other players but that's probably not going to happen. I think thunder's cast time and short duration probably restricts its usefulness to arcanists, but I could see Summoner's using Aero ( since its instant and lasts 18 seconds) as part of the Dot scaling nuke rotation, to give them another dot to spread, or during heavy movement encounters. The various crit/defensive utilities/self damage buffs mentioned all sound pretty solid. All in all the class seems to be in a pretty similar vein to something like the Cabalist from DaoC and that's not a bad thing. |

The FFXIV subreddit had a post about a bit more information leaked in regards to Carbuncle. Looks like Carby will at least come in 3 different shades of colors. Green and Yellow have been added. People are speculating left and right about what the colors may signify (Party roles tank/dd/healer, etc), or maybe just comsetic differences. http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/ ... carbuncle/ Either way, I'd totally sport a red Carbuncle, if they do add all the colors in for cosmetic purposes only. Just like how I wished we could have customized our Wyvern's colors in FFXI. |
