Yes, many people sacrificed children in the Bible. Specifically, the barbaric nations Israel eliminated. Just because it's recorded doesn't mean it's encouraged.

I don't have much time to reply, but you can always find a general line in holy book, you don't have to look at minor detail like you pointed.

Bible is a huge book, but it's basically saying "to love everyone". You can disagree and say it's only a matter of faith, but you don't have to go farther in your bible analysis to understand the message of this book.

Is a religion based on that bad? I don't think so.

Bible or Christians don't take credit for those concepts, it just proposes a way to apply them or how far they should be applied. The story around it is more or less significant to some extent.
This topic so far is only about christianism, but compare it to Buddism and you get 2 different way to do "good". Both religion when applied correctly to a society can make a lot of good, while being fundamentally different.


While I don't always agree with the way religion act, a society where nobody have beliefs can lead to ugly things. Human is by nature egocentric and the lacks or morals or guideline will make any form of society disappears.


To answer your question: "Can we love everyone without the bible". The answer is yes, you can. However, I'm asking you: "Can we love everyone without beliefs?"

If your answer is "yes", explains me how. If your answer is "no", tell me how your beliefs are different than any religion beliefs.

He isn't bashing, and is there such a thing as belief founded on nothing? Beliefs stem from interactions and experiences, they do not just materialize into the brain.

Beliefs constitute the most basic suppositions of life. Mainly, we cannot prove that we even exist....we take that on faith.

kaylia-why are my beliefs better? while i usually dont use the term "better," i would say i prefer my beliefs because i base my beliefs on what i can see, hear, smell, taste, feel (sense). or, what scientists can sense, because i trust the scientific community. i also like to take sensed information and draw conclusions based on it. for example, something i believe is that the big bang was only an occurrence and that time and space have always been rather than poofed into being during the big bang. this is a belief of mine. it is a theory yes. but it is based on science and also logic. it is based on data from astronomy, along with the logic that every effect has a cause. so i have to strongly disagree with your statement that beliefs cannot be based on science or logic.

i still like christians. they are humans. they deserve respect. so please dont think im bashing christians. i am just trying to explain my beliefs which encompasses not only what i believe but what i believe is false. not trying to make enemies. in my life i have found a high percentage of religious people get way too defensive about everything philosophical, and often get hostile. theres a psychology concept to ponder.
