hrmm this seems like the right thread to recount the events of the last couple of days:
As some of you may or may not know, I semi-retired WHM and I'm currently taking SMN up fulltime. However, I already bought Raise III, and some gear for 70+ (granted I can use this gear for my SMN, but my SMN is only lvl 50 currently) Plus, doing Gods and Dynamis... it pays for me to be 70+ to be able to lot on things (w/o a guilty conscience).
My LS did Genbu on Wed. night, decent drops, I barely lotted on anything (out of respect for the higher whms in the alliance). It must've been around 11:30pm-12:00am Eastern. I just got back to Jeuno and took anon off to see if i could exp for a couple hours, when I get a bunch of kanji with P T scrunched in the middle. I reply back: >>{experience points} {party}? {yes please}! {I don't speak any Japanese} OK? he replied: {yes please} and invited me. The setup was RNG, RNG, NIN, RDM, BLM, WHM (me) and we headed up to sky to take decorative weapons. We started exping around 12:30-1:00am, I was @23k~70, we ended around 4:30am and I was 6k tnl. Being that I had work in 3 hours, I promptly logged off (which sucks, because I know they probably would've kept going well into the morning hours if I didn't have to go ;

I log on yesterday and tele-mea to go check the gp item for cooking, I'm at the crag about to buy a choco when i get a tell asking for pt. I agree and he tells me to meet in sky. 45mins later I wound up in sky, the setup so far is DRK, SMN, SAM, and WHM (me). The leader tells us we're waiting on a NIN and BRD (sweet! I think to myself), an hour later the NIN finally shows up, and the leader insists we find a camp (even tho we're only 5), I tell them I might be able to locate the same camp I was at yesterday with the JP PT.. but I was wrong I got us lost, and once we ran around Ru'Lvegganon (or whatever the name of that area is) for like 30 mins and wasted a few silent oils, the leader tells us to camp at one of the previous locales we were at (I was skeptical because there was a weapon up when we went there so I knew it was a spawn point) regardless we headed over there and begin fighting.
We must have been pting for about 30mins-hour when everyone is like where the eff is this BRD? The leader explains that the BRD is part of their (NIN, SAM, and SMN) ppt and that he/she isn't logged. I do a search and name some RDMs and BRDs in our lvl gap. Anotehr 30mins-hour go by, still no BRD/RDM or any other 6th for that matter. We were doing decently and I made about 4k exp. Then... a weapon popped on us, with no RDM, BRD or BLM to sleep the mob it just started going buck on the SMN and I. The SMN ran to a safe place to cast an avatar and distract the link while I proceeded to kite it back and forth while getting the beating of my life. Being that I'm taru, and have all +MP/-HP gear on (I think I have just over 600hp when at full health) I was dead in several hits. The rest of the PT died shortly after. I waited for the 2 weapons to get far away and RRed. I snuck up and then proceeded to cast R2 on one of the dead pt members. >< noob move, I aggroed a weapon from like 4 miles away and was dead again, this time w/o RR. frustrated about everything, I didn't even think to ask LS or have someone /sea for a WHM in the area. I thanked them for the PT and HPed. I went from 6k tnl to 8k tnl and wasted 3 hours of my life.
An hour or 2 later I finally get another invite. Some familiar names so I think it will be good, setup was: RNG, BLM, RDM, WHM, NIN, MNK. We head to Ro'Maeve since span is 67-69 and everyone insists the Ro'Maeve weapons are easier (they seemed harder to me, though, maybe it was just set-up) and our NIN DCs on the way to camp and never returns. We wait 30mins-hour and our replacement shows up a PLD ><. Everyone forgets silent oils and we aggroed everything in Ro'Maeve on the way to camp. I made a joke at one point that I felt like we were doing BCNM battles because of the waves of mobs that would come at us, needless to say we just barely made it to camp alive (several times). So we start to exp, it's decent, a little slow because the weapons are beating on our PLD and I have to waste massive amounts of MP to keep this fool alive (he was one of those PLDS with the mentality: "I'll use Spirit's Within @ 300tp every 3 fights to keep hate instead of curing (resting MP) and voking") GOD why would a PLD ever have to rest w/ Refresh right?! >< He wasn't great at keeping hate, in fact the mages kept getting aggroed, I died once. That's twice now I was within 2-3k tnl and bit it pushing me back a couple k. We keep a it, and get into a decent groove when PLD loses hate again and I die again..I RR, but for whatever reason the RNG pulls a Golem to us (after we already agreed no more Golems after the first one nearly took us out after a full rest). Needless to say the Golen wiped us in about 30 secs. With all of us dead, we sat there for awhile thinking about the options, I guess no one had a WHM in their LS or anything because everyone was like, "I'm just gonna HP it". Furious, I HP, thank everyone for the PT and disband. @8k tnl ~ 6-7 hours of my day wasted.
Just a funny side note: I meant to /t the RNG>> "{Bio}tch ass PLD, couldn't keep hate for shit". But i accidentally /t it to the PLD himself LOL. He said "Thanks" and I explained that it was MT and that I was just upset, and that I hold no ill feelings towards him. He was actually really lvl-headed about it, and the situation was quelled w/o any drama.
So here it is, it's getting late, I have a window of maaaybe 2 hours to get in bed at a decent hour. I decided it was just better to log off, smoke a joint, jerk off, and go to sleep. When... I get a /t from the same JP dude who invited me the night before, I had been dying to hit lvl 70 (I was sick of toting around that scroll of RIII for a month) so I agreed, but I told him I ony had 2 hours. Well 2 hours wound up turning into nearly 4 hours because of how much fun I was having and how much exp we were pulling in. 4 of us dinged 70 (including me) and i got a sweet buffer of just over 8k exp. ALSO we managed to nab Pelican and I won lot on aspis! Overall, it was an amazing ending to an otherwise extremely shitty day.
