Doubt they would roll it over into merits, but it would be nice considering I have 170k xp or so poured into merits already and I am like 38k/44k on my buffer now due to dynamis deaths. This will be fun though for my BLM, so I will have to get Aalan in game to level his MNK with me. Maybe I can get BLM to 75 in a reasonable time, but permas usually don't xp often enough if I am going to be psycho about xp.

I can't believe I hit level 75 BRD at 72 days playtime and that was with waiting for a full month on my perma pt that eventually disintegrated. After that happened I hated permas, but I can see where permas benefit jobs other than BRD. I hope this decrease in xp to level for jobs at 50+ will be good for the people who have problems being LFG in Jueno, but somehow I doubt it will help most DD get parties.

Ya giving us the extra xp into merits would be a nice way to atleast give some of us already lvled up to 75 something back, but SE wouldn't do it. Heh I think I would finally have almost every merit ability capped if they did that.

The more threads I read about this, a lot of people seem to have the same feeling about this... that it's really nice but a lot of lv 75 players are kind of jipped because we got all this xp already and with the patch we could have gotten 75 with much less (of course, we still don't know how much it's actually going to be)

It takes approx 1 mil xp to get 1-75 so let's say they reduce the amount you need by a mere 10,000 (and I hope it's more than that, lol) it would be nice for them to at least reward people with an xp scroll or merit or something.

I sent a suggestion through POL and I encourage you guys to do the same since you all agree, it only takes a second and even if you get one merit out of it, it would be worth it. And if you don't, oh well you will still have an easier time to 75 with second jobs and beyond. btw its POL > Services and Support > Support > Email Support > Comments and Suggestions.

God, I love you Mys. I need a FS pearl, just so I can see you more.

Also, keep in mind that if you already have gotten 75, you've been reaping the rewards for months in sky and Dynamis, getting and wearing God equip, AF2, and getting more gil than people lower than their 60s ever hope to see.

Yay, I hit 75 back in the day and SE decides to increase the amount of exp per mob from level 51-75... then I hit 75 again and now SE decides to reduce the amount of exp from 51-75 /clap Image

I guess it's a good time to level all my other jobs to 51 and wait for this update ;x

Not always true, Dynamis is just a big exp/gil blackhole and I'm sure there's a lot of level 60s who have more gil than me lol.

I think it'd be really cool to have the exp they reduced by transferred over to merits, but then you need to think about the fact that if they do it for one person (or group of people) they need to do it for everyone.

So for what about those people 51-74? They can't just be given merit exp, can they? They'd maybe have to pad people with new amounts of exp, or something. It just seems like it'd be a logistical nightmare.

While I'd like to see them give me free merit exp, I just don't see them actually brainstorming a way of doing it for all jobs 51+.

That statement in the official announcement makes it sound like 75 is as high as the caps going to get. I actually hope that remains true because I have no desire in leveling anymore than 75 anyway. 80/40 like many have said would bring up several balance issues as well...

What exactly does this mean? That there are so many 75s that having more isnt a bad thing? That they need people to take second jobs, or get the slow levelers to move along so there's a steady stream of people looking for xp? Or is this some SE BS that makes them sound lofty in making this change? lol (betting on the latter)

On one hand, I'm overjoyed at this...Can't even imagine how many friends have surpassed me in lvls due to my synthing/farming/bullshitting around...
On the other, I kinda don't like it. I take pride in my character, and this is basically SE just handing us a wad of free exp. I pride myself in the fact that I work hard to make my character the best I can, but with this exp drop, even when I get to 75, people will be looking down on me and others like me due to the fact "SE handed you a wad of free exp...we had to EARN ---k exp more then you did to get to that lvl...".

It's really not that big of deal. In fact I think it's just going to cause more problems from 60-70, (the worst 10 levels for everyone, especially 62-64.)

Places to XP are limited from 60-70, it's pretty much Valley of Sorrows, Labyrinth of Onzozo, Bibiki Bay and Boyahda Tree. If you either have a really good linkshell, leeched ZMs, or you're leveling a second job sky is also an option, but RNG are necessary for fast XP, (even that's starting to get a little crowded from what I understand...) So, with less total XP to level, that inclination to level will be increased because it's less of a grind, and the places will be even more packed. =/

Whether or not it's 20k total less tnl than it used to be, 75 still feels good. It gives a sense of closure to a job you've been working on for X months. No reason to let what the "old school" players say bother you. Fuck 'em. ;p

Actually I've found 65-67 to be the ungodly bad levels (I like Onzozzo as crazy as that sounds from a whm and smn lol). The only really good xp that levels, especially prior to Bikiki Bay, was on flies in the Tree, and only in pts with Aalan did I ever feel safe doing those.

They'll fuck something up for sure if they mess around with exp.

Anyway, if they lower the amount of exp you can hold in your pool at 75 it would be pretty lame. I've been capped for a long time at 43,999/44,000, dipping occasionally to something like 30,000/44,000 if I go a while without exping. This change basically means they're fucking over the people that don't exp often but do stuff that gets them killed constantly (Kirin, for one example), because if you don't exp often you'll end up deleveling (something I haven't done since hitting 75 and don't wish to happen in the future).

I'm pretty sure the reason they're doing this is to compete with the ease of leveling with WoW to try to grab players back (this coupled with the character restoration program they have going on now). It's really a step in the wrong direction. I came back to FFXI because it was more challenging and that if you were a true retard you'd be known for it before you were able to hit 75. Now I get the feeling this game is going to turn into WoW where you have a bunch of level capped people running around that you never even heard of before.

Maybe if enough people bitch at SE it won't happen. I'm hoping the JPs that make this game their lives and have 6-7 multiple jobs will tell SE not to go the Blizzard route.

wouldnt this benefit for you dyanmis and hnm ppls so you dont loose 4,400 exp when you die?

I really don't think this is a cause for concern one bit.

Changes to this game these days are usually extremely minor

After level 70 or whatever the XP loss is like half of what it was before then.

I kinda agree with most of it, however, xping after 60 is really different than it was a few month ago. I had trouble finding a camp with my last few party and it's getting really annoying, not to mention xp isn't even good. As much as I like challenge, not being able to get #3chain because area are too crowded isn't fun.

About xp lost, I don't get it. Why are they saying it's capped at 2400, isn't it the same as before? Unless level 75 is 2400xp, it's not going to affect xp much from lv 60-75
