Yeah I was thinking about this earlier today and decided to look back into. A few patches ago they added a way to set your search comment using macros. The command is /seacom, /sc.

/sc 1 "@2,300 JP/NA {Invite to join party.}"
/sc 2 "{Party}{Long time.}{All right!}"

This would set your search comment. Which is nifty for seeking and needing to mule, just keep your macro updated and hit it whenever you log back on.

Is there a way to put up your pt flag in a macro? if so that'd be hot too.

/seacom doesn't work on its own, you need to use /seacomup to actually "update" the search comment after filling one in.

/seacom 1 "Line 1"
/seacom 2 "Line 2"
/seacom 3 "Line 3"
/seacomup exp 1

Or something like that, i forgot how the /seacomup works. You can type /? seacomup in the log window and it will tell you.

Pretty neat. I have already set up a couple macros for when I log off or w/e. Works like this:

/sc 1 "<insert message here>"
/sc 2 "<insert message here>"
/sc 3 "<insert message here>"
/scu "<category name>" <subcategory number>

Category Names:
expparty, mission, quest, item, synthesis, battlefield, others

Subcategory Number:
1 Seek Party, Want to Sell, Need Made
2 Find a Member, Want to Buy, Can Make
3 Other

For Example:

/sc 1 "San d'Oria Mission 9-2"
/sc 2 "Help me out please"
/sc 3 "Looking for members 4/6"
/scu "mission" 3

For mission there is not a sub category number. But I placed a 3 there for since it wouldn't fall under 1 or 2.

i think that is the most pointless thing ever, its only 3 windows you goto when u go to menu

Menu > Search > Comment > Edit Comment > blah blah blah

BUT for all you lazy ppl, it sure is a great feature^^

The reason it's been overlooked is because it's pointless, just like half the other stuff they add, haha. I would really hope you don't have the same tnl each and every time you log in anyway. O_o;

Sorry but bringing that macro up at this time really does make it look like you've been living under a rock for the past half year or so, no pun intended.
This macro was never overlooked, it was in fact listed in an update announcement weeks before the patch, and at the release there was an expanded explaination about it on the official site and there were posts about it on just about any FFXI forum, including this one.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to expanding my superior FFXI knowledge and soloing kirin with my level 200 blue mage.

Hehe, maybe it's because I'm old in FF terms, but I never bothered to learn how to do this macro either. Thx for us noobs who don't learn every little thing right away.

P.S. I always lol at the arguments that Valisk gets in, because they are usually unnecessary and usually pointless. Some people just gotta learn to let things go. It's much easier on you, trust me Val.
