Well, here we are. Two years later and we are still playing this damn game. Frankly, I never expected to become such an addict to be honest. The first time I logged on and saw that message about school, family, friends & work I laughed. We've gone from complete nooblets to trailblazers. Can't say what will happen in the future or if we will remain. I myself plan to keep the service until it closes, but I also plan for this to be my first and last MMO. 2 years of missions, jobs, adventures, friends, enemies, NM camping, HNMs, timers, crafting, chocobos, airships, alliances, parties, raids, ect, ect. So for what it's worth, happy anniversary NA players!

Its actually really funny to think about and sad at the same time.

I remember in January of like 2003 (7 months before the launch of FFXI and a few months before beta) when I was playing DAoC my guild started talking about how long we had been playing DAoC for. I can remember saying "Well I'm just going to keep playing DAoC until I get into the FFXI Beta, then Im playing that until release and I'll probably quit DAoC".

I remember when I first started reading the FFXIonline forums and the Shadow-Dragon forums. I use to tell talisin all about it and show him the screen shots. Talisin and I use to play mostly FPS games all the time. I was trying to get him hooked on FFXI. It worked when I started showing him all the Samurai stuff.

I wish I could still think about FFXI and have all those thoughts of how awesome it is and how amazing things could be. Funny how you look a the game as a newbie compaired to how we see it now.

Yeah, our view of the game has certainly changed from the olden days. I used to think the world was huge. (It is when you have to run and boat to Windurst and get jumped by the Sea Horror and then Home Point to do it all again!) Now it doesn't seem so big, I guess this part was unavoidable as we grow and traverse over the same territory time after time.

I'd say more right now, but omg english exam in two hours. This game never meshed well with school :\

A quick couple of things about me:

I started this game first semester of my senior year of High School. I'm now a sophmore in college.

The "Caduceus" item was released several months after I had made my charecter, but I had already started clothcraft at the time and didn't have the gil to put into alchemy (I plan on changing that soon).

They're have been 17,520 hours and 730 days since the start of FFXI.

To find out how many hours, on average daily, you've played FFXI every day, take the number of days, multiply it by 24, then divide that number into 17,520. Have fun :D

lol I used to be an Everquest junkie but always knew i'd quit it when the ps2 version of ffxi came out (( I had a very shitty PC back then lol ))I dont see myself quitting ffxi for any other mmorpg except maybe the next ff mmo in like 5 years lol.

UNLESS they finally make a pokemon mmorpg lmao. I hate to admit it but I'd quit ffxi in a second for a decent pokemon mmo lol

2 years later and I'm on my second MMORPG after FFXI.... and reached the raiding tiers in all 3... I play too many MMOs.

Be really cool if we could have some kind of giant silly NA onry event to celebrate. Like if eveyone gathered in their home nation and changed to a lvl 1 job and we just all raced to jueno. No oils or powders, just used good ole fashion skill to avoid all the mobs. But thats just wishful thnking. Wow it really has been 2 years. Wonder else we could have been doing with all that time invested?

Started playing Dec 2003.. I was 14 yrs old.. gonna be 17 in a few months and I'll prob. still be playing ffxi(I'll be back for sure by then). It went by really fast.
